Description

I am a renaissance woman through and through! A "jill" of all trades and a master of some! I own my own lifestyle brand (mollybloom.us), renovated my home (https://www.dwell.com/guide/molly-bloom-home-renovation-2c46e016) and am an incredibly hard worker in the world of fashion, marketing, styling and event/runway show production (mollybloominati.com). I have a ton of fun, always have a smile on my face, prefer cooking / hosting a dinner party with great wine and conversation to going out, and find my favorite people to be around are 20+ years older than me.. I'm an old soul, and a lot of life already lived. That said, if I am in a lively place, sitting in a piazza socializing over a negroni all evening is my cup of tea too :)

Following my divorce in 2021, I have been focusing more on my art, cooking / culinary experiences, slowing down, and reconnecting with people and the environments around me. I feel most at peace having deep conversations with strangers and learning new perspectives. In some way, I also find peace when I'm helping people (emotionally, mentally, feeding them, listening, acts of service..) so I'm finding that a place like workaway is a great fit for me while I figure out where I'd like to move to next and what sort of life I would like to build for myself coming out of my divorce.

I'm excited for what experiences are ahead of me!

I have been learning French on DuoLingo for 2+ years, but am not totally conversational yet. I would love to learn more! I can understand Spanish for the most part, but find I am rarely in places that speak the language. I should learn Italian as well :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a blend of technical and creative, in all things. I have 15+ years experience with product design. I'm currently building my apparel, accessories, home goods and small furniture collection with makers from all over the world. I can help you build or rebuild your closet, curate and advise on styling tips, understand how clothing should fit and work on your body, and where to find clothing that aligns with your principles. This is my first passion for sure!

Following a years-long renovation on the home I currently own in NY, I realized the "canvas" of the home is my second passion. I learned the basics of plumbing, electrical, framing, dry wall etc, and have a designer's eye for all things material selection, color palettes, layout, creative problem solving as it concerns an interactive living space, the architecture of landscaping, and art or furniture sourcing (or creation!). I couldn't do it by myself, but I also built an exterior trellace and large back deck so I have skills with these structures as well. Overall, I am incredibly connected and aware of how a space or environment can directly affect or influence ones mood, so I would love to help create a place of peace, productivity, creativity, etc in your home too! I can render a space by hand and sketch various layouts or ideas clearly, but I do not have CAD expertise (yet).

My third passion, which I tap into every day, is cooking! I am mainly Lebanese / Irish and grew up in the kitchen with my Situ (Lebanese) and mother (Irish). I can cook vegan, DF, GF, vegetarian, pescatarian, or will have a total blast if you don't have any food allergies (I do not, I eat everything and want to try everything once). I don't have a sweet tooth, and prefer a cheese selection or apertivo following a big meal than cake, but I can make amazing pies! I want to learn how to make various breads and sourdoughs, I want to learn more about pasta (flour selection and shapes), food sourcing and gardening, and of course more about wine and wine making! It's also on my bucket list to do an olive harvest - see you in October?

Generally, I am Type A / Type B and have extensive experience with budgets, google suite, planning.. and then can execute on a design, construction, laborious side with efficiency.

I am a very healthy person. Non-smoker. I like to run, mix in calisthenics / yoga when I can. I am also very athletic - I used to play volleyball, basketball, and softball. I was also a world champion Irish Dancer. I can play ukulele and used to play saxophone and can still remember all of my scales! I love jazz, lo-fi, EDM, classical, ambient, and anything from europe in the 60's (I cherish my spotify playlists). I love cinema, picnics, being close or on water (I always stay on house boats when I take myself on vacation) and hope to learn more about sailing.

One day I want to own my own version of a "third space" where a community of people can enjoy the small bites of food I prepare, drink, conversation, the interiors of the space and the views I hope to have access to.
