Hey, I'm Katrina :)

I keep coming back to workaway (about 10 workaways since 2016!) because I love travelling solo and spending that time for myself, but I also love getting an 'in' to living locally and taking part in local projects, initiatives or interests. I enjoy experiencing a place over time, and appreciating the small things.

I have been born and raised in the small Southeast Asian nation of Brunei, but taken my undergraduate studies in Vancouver, and have lived between Brunei and Australia (studying and work holiday visa, 2 years), in these past couple of years.

Recently I have been working with children in the early years and elementary ages and I have had the honour in Australia to work at an awesome bush program, and I have experience with 1-1 support as well as in daycare centres for the ages 0-5.

I'm a simple person, I like spending time walking, or bringing a small creative project to sit and work on.
I have spent some time this past year learning knot tying, weaving, and simple sewing skills that is a very simple and meditative practice for me.

I am an easy going and considerate person who is looking to develop myself and gain skills so I can help others too.

I'm looking to send some roots down in British Columbia and I hope to find a workaway that may be flexible in considering this as I may be pursuing personal responsibilities during this transitory time. I have done something similar in Australia and found it very rewarding and supportive environment.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have qualification and experience in early childhood education with children 1-6 years of age.

I have worked on permaculture projects in Canada, India, Nepal, and Borneo, including construction, gardening, and general labour. I don't mind hard work or getting my hands dirty, in fact it's a kind of fun.

I've worked as a tour guide at a nature resort which involves serving guests, and taking them hiking, river rafting, kayaking, abseiling, and rock climbing.
