Interested in horticulture and alternative living activities. I taught English as a foreign language in the past so would also be nice to help out teaching.
Description
Hi, I'm Gordon. I'm a patient, easy-going person who enjoys new adventures and experiencing first hand how other people live. Teaching English as a foreign language in the past gave me a passion to travel and work in other countries - such as Thailand, Colombia, Spain, East Timor, India, Nepal - where I loved learning about other cultures, trying new food, seeing different landscapes and making new friends.
Recently I have begun learning about permaculture and organic farming and feel strongly that growing food sustainably and education around where our food comes from is important in our modern society. I want to use workaway to add to my learning. I hope to have fun cultural exchanges while building new skills and exploring my creative side. It's also important for me to be involved in experiences which I feel are worthwhile and contribute to the happiness of others. Hope I'm not asking for too much!Centres d’intérêt

I have recently worked on a small organic market garden as an intern for a season, to build on my knowledge and experience after doing a permaculture design course. I have also done some WWOOFing (world wide opportunities on organic farms) in my native Scotland and South Africa (3 months). I would like to use workaway to add to these skills as well as opportunities to learn more woodworking, maintenance and building skills.
I previously taught English as a foreign language for around 8 years, mainly to adults. This taught me how to be patient and clear with instructions.
I worked in Information Technology Support for around 7 years, but am not up to date with new technology and would rather not be sat at a desk for hours every day!
I can speak Spanish to an intermediate level and have some beginner German and Tetun (from East Timor).Âge

Autres infos...
I would like to be more creative and am trying to learn guitar and draw (although it's slow progress!).
I like all sports, especially trail running (which I have just started), mountain biking, football/soccer and snorkelling.
I have a passion for food and like to learn about local cuisine wherever I go. It is one of the reason's I want to be involved in small scale food growing in the future.Informations complémentaires
