Heya there! I'm Gaia, a 28 y.o. Italian aspiring filmmaker and storyteller from Milano, Italy 🎥🇮🇹
In March 2023 I've started what was supposed to be a one-year journey throughout Europe with my last stop being Georgia. Now one year later and in Georgia, my craving for travelling has only deepened and I'm planning to keep on moving towards East, through Iran and India.
The rest of my journey is a mistery still, but I'll try to observe the principle of vacilar, as the Spanish would say, and devote my travel to finding experiences, but most of all people, that may challenge my views, as well as my writing.
The main reason I travel is because I see it as an extension of how I also experience Cinema: it provides you with an unrivaled opportunity to immerse yourself in other people's worlds. You could say It simply helps me becoming a better person, as well as a better writer. That's why most days, when I'm not travelling, you can find me buried in a movie theatre having film marathons until my eyes and brain beg me for mercy. All because I do believe in beautifully told stories and their power to change the world.
The other main reason I started this journey to begin with was to find an ethical and alternative way of living in a world that deems overconsumption and hoarding money as the ultimate (if not the only) goals for human life. I don't see any point in devoting this short life of mine to a corporate world, eventually contributing to the further destruction of this planet. This is why I've decided to backpack solo, only moving around by bus, trains, hitchhiking and mostly using couchsurfing. Ironically enough though, I do have an ambitious and hard-working mentality and I like contributing to smaller realities while I slow travel.
On a less serious note 💁♀️:
I do fit the typical Italian stereotype of being an obsessed foodie with a coffee addiction☕. So be prepared for some mean home cooked vegan pasta al forno and the strongest moka coffee of your life.
Beware: high risk of random talks about linguistics, romance philology, cinema and techno.
