My name is Burki, short for Burkina (yes, like the country in Africa). Since graduating from university in 2021, I've been prioritizing my love for the outdoors by working seasonal jobs chasing the snow in the winter and the waves in the summer. The feeling of experiencing firsts or seeing something for the first time is what I love most about traveling. I am easily impressed (not in a ditsy way but in an appreciative way) and I think that is one of the qualities I love most about myself - turning mundane, simple things into something exciting.

To start with academic talk, I graduated from Acadia University with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (the study of human movement). During the 3rd and 4th year of my degree, I had the opportunity to work as a student athletic therapist for the women's varsity volleyball team. To sum up my role, it meant providing assessments, treatments, and rehabilitation to athletes upon injury as well as instilling preventative measures to avoid the risk of injury.
Aside from school, I've always been outdoorsy. I worked as a summer camp counselor for several years, leading activities and guiding young campers on canoe trips. Through these roles, I have gained many hard skills such as portaging canoes, paddle techniques, water safety, environmental ethics/awareness, and reading maps. And soft skills like taking initiative, problem-solving, task management, and confidence.
And lastly, I also have experience in customer service, working in retail and the hospitality industry as a server.Âge
