Hello,

My name is Marie-Christin. You can call me M-C :).

This is my first time doing Workaway and I’m very excited about it. I’ve been wanting to do this for several years and now the time has finally come! I’m really looking forward to get to know many new things: new countries, new activities, new people! I’m ready for an adventure! :D

I am 21 years old and I’ve finished my bachelor's degree in psychology in February at the University of Vienna. Apart from studying, I work in a psychotherapeutic institution as an assistant and as a so-called “leisure educationist” with children. During the rest of my time, I mainly make music. I play the classical guitar and the e-bass in a band called “Strand ohne Palme” (you can find us on Instagram ;)). I also like doing sports. I often go for runs and do yoga and in the summertime, I go hiking and sailing. Also, I’m really interested in feminism and read a lot of feminist essays and texts. Also, since my uncle handed an old analogue camera down to me about six years ago, you will seldomly meet me without an analogue camera. :) Furthermore, I enjoy learning languages. At the moment, I’m taking French and Hungarian lessons.

And of course I love travelling! For me, it’s very exciting to explore new areas. That’s always an adventure. I love seeing how people in other countries live and which habits they have. I enjoy being around people and I’m always curious to learn something new about them.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As mentioned above, I am a psychology student. I am also an assisant of a psychotherapist. Here, I do mainly organisational things, like managing appointments and bills and payments... and also other things that are needed, like changing lightbulbs and watering the plants! In my other job as a "leisure educationist" (in german it's qualification is called "Freizeitpädagogin". I'm not sure how to translate it correctly :)) I work with kids. I either look after larger groups of children during school vacation, where we do excursions together, or I entertain children at events, that means that I play games with them, put funny make-up on their faces (for example a unicorn, spiderman, butterfly, tiger...) or do handicrafts with them.

I have also often done practical stuff in the household- I've painted walls, mounted shelfs... and I've also gone to the woods with my father to cut wood for the winter, as well as mowed the grass and cut the hedges. I am also very willing to learn many new manual skills!

On my journey, I would love to improve the languages that are not my mothertongue (so, french, english and hungarian) but I am also willing to teach german if that is requested! :)

I am also happy if someone wants to make music with me- especially if it's the bass or the guitar, so we can learn from one another :)
