I live on the Sunshine Coast one hour north of Brisbane in Qld Australia.

Description

Thank you for visiting my profile - I am a very active and enthusiastic senior. I am retired from the workforce but not from life.

I fell in love with Italy last year when I volunteered with Workaway and especially with the family and friends I stayed with in Lucca, Palau and Fiumefreddo di Sicilia. This year I am returning again to Italy to further explore and experience this wonderful part of the World and to improve my Italian.

I am very creative and a lateral thinker/problem solver. I write and paint. Currently I am a Support Worker and companion carer to those in need. I also fill in as a movie extra now and then and In my spare time I am learning digital art

I am physically fit and can garden, look after pets, clean houses and offices and can use a variety of building tools as I have renovated many houses.

My Italian is basic and I understand more than I can speak. I also speak a little French -I lived in Switzerland for a year so I speak 'Swiss french' I understand and can get by.

During my life I have experience with yachts having lived on one and sailed as a crew member on others. I previously owned a restaurant for 10 years, and a childcare centre. I taught life skills to persons aged 18-45 years at our local college. I am a caring and compassionate person with confidence and can work unsupervised whilst under pressure.

I have a current first aid certificate and current Police check (Australian) and an international driving license. I have driven in Europe and last year in Palau.

I have hosted many volunteers in my homes here in Australia through Workaway and Helpx and love the cultural exchange and interaction with all ages and nationality. I have travelled throughout the world and my life has been enriched by the people I meet.

During my growing years I have volunteered in a summer camp in America (3 months) and in a homestay in Switzerland (1 year) and stayed in France (6 weeks) assisting with a four year old. I have also been a foster parent for several children of various ages in my home over a period of 7 years.

My daughter has described me as 'not the normal 70 year old' I climbed to base camp (Annapurna) with her in Nepal when I was 69, travelled to and around Africa, trekked with her and her grandmother through New Zealand, tried Pole dancing, silks and rings just for fun. Yes and my muscles creaked but it did not strop me from smiling.
And now - before I am ever due to sit and rest in 'the armchair of life" I would like to illustrate and publish my children's picture books. I am currently in the process of publishing my second book "Free Holidays" Fun and Adventure, it's easy on line.
