  You love nature and being outside? You adore animals, especially dogs and cats, or horses? And you want to get to know a small family life? - Then come to stay with us :)
  
  We would love to get to know you and your culture and show you the beauty of our nice country side here in Germany. We are a little family-owned farm and try to live more sustainably.
  
  Hello, I'm Wenke and I am looking for you! Me and my youngest daughter live on a little farm near the river Elbe in a small town called Derben. The idea to be a workaway host came from my eldest daughter who did work and travel experience in Canada.
  There are a few pets as members of our paw family like the two dogs and 3 cats, chicken and some horses to take care of. Your tasks would be helping to clean the paddocks and stable for the horses, maybe refreshing the painting on the walls and general house maintenance. If you got some other skills, let me know - there are a lot of ideas to improve the house, garden or yard.
  Because I have to work 5-6 days a week, my 15-year-old daughter would enjoy some young people around. My oldest daughter (22) is currently studying and visiting from time to time.
  Your work would start around 9 a.m., but you are free to choose your work time yourself. It would be around 4 hours a day, weekends are off. You should know that your daily activities might be smelly or dusty sometimes but you will get happy animals in return.
  If you decide to come to Derben, you will get to know some other strong girls and boys at the farm, which love the horses like we do. We don't have horses for absolute beginners to ride, but they are good for cuddling or slow walking. If you have an apple, they love you no matter what. ;)
  
  Derben is also a nice area for hiking and cycling. Bicycles are available to lend from us in your free time. In the summer, you are free to enjoy time by the water nearby which we have a lot of in the area.
  Also, the City of Berlin is easy to get to by train or bus in about 90 minutes, as well as Magdeburg City which has an old cathedral and other sights. There's public transport for school hours in our small town, but you are always welcome to join whenever we got the city.
  We have a train station 15 min away by car or bus and if you arrive by train, we would pick you up.

  We are a loving family who would show you our way of life and also learn about yours. You will be surrounded by animals all the time and can enjoy the idyllic countryside.

  Aide

  Your helping day would start on 9 a.m. or even later, you are free to choose the time in which you work – 4-5 hours a day. For every week you work, you get two days off which you can choose when to take.
  You should know that your activities might be smelly or dusty sometimes but you will get happy animals in return. We provide working cloths and have spare shoes, etc. to work as well.

  Hébergement

  We will provide a room for yourself with wardrobe, desk, bed and a TV which can fit two people separately.
  We are vegetarian household and will provide basic food supplies. You'll get a grocery list and can tell us whatever you like.
  Supermarkets are only a few minutes away in Parey or Genthin if you need something we couldn't get. If you want to eat meat, we would ask you to buy that on your own.
  We have a solid wifi connection and you can do your laundry as well.
  We have lots of space so that a Caravan or Camper could easily fit in the garden if that´s your way to get around. In summertime, it could also be nice to have a tent in the garden.

  Smoking is only allowed outside, we prefer non-smokers.
  Please don't forget a valid health insurance to travel safely.
  
  There is the beautiful landscape near the river Elbe, as well as some big cities like Berlin or Magdeburg an hour away and we are happy to show you around. If we have time, we can take you on little trips and activities with the bike or car. We enjoy card games and games in general. You are also always welcome to join our daily walks with the dogs.
