Description
My name is Anne. I’m a teacher, and along with my partner, Adam, we’ve been renovating a 150 year old stone, Irish workers cottage on a 1 acre site outside Cork, between Carrigtwohill and Midleton. The cottage needs complete renovation and we’ve been working on this slowly over the last few summers. It’s set in lovely, calm, rolling countryside. Foxes, rabbits and hares play in the garden, as well as a range of birds, big and small. The garden is spacious, and we have recently planted an orchard and native tree saplings such as hazel and beech. We’d welcome help working on the cottage. We are using traditional materials and environmentally friendly technology to bring the house back to life. We will work alongside you to complete simple building tasks. We do not use artificial chemicals in the garden or house. We are happy to share what we have learned so far and would be delighted to learn from you.

Cork city has beautiful museums and is full of music and cultural happenings.
You will be close to the towns of Midleton, Youghal and Ballycotton and also close to nature.
Cobh is a vibrant town steeped in maritime history. Boat rides to Spike Island are available daily.
When we eat or work together, there’ll be great opportunities for chat.
As I will be on holidays and working on the cottage during June and July there will be lots of opportunities for conversation and cultural exchange. I am happy to show you around where I live and to bring you sea swimming.Projets impliquant des enfants

Aide
We are currently undertaking a variety of jobs to bring our cottage back to life using traditional materials. We will work with traditional lime mortars and lime plasters to repoint and plaster the inside and outside of the cottage. This can be detailed work using small tools and patience!
Soon we will be insulating the whole house.
No prior knowledge or skills needed (although they would be most welcome!), just a willingness to learn alongside us.
There will also be some gardening work available.Langues

you are welcome to live where we are living, in the waterfront town of Cobh (a 15 minute drive or 30 minute train ride from the cottage, about an hour to cycle). You would have your own room, and access to a private toilet, shared shower room and shared kitchen/dining and living room.
Alternatively, You are welcome to camp or bring a motor home or caravan onsite. However, currently, there is no electricity at the cottage. We are not living onsite so you would have the place to yourself.
We will provide food, but it will be up to you to cook for yourself. We are pescatarians, eating mostly vegetarian food. When we eat together, we will provide vegetarian or pescatarian dishes.Autres infos...
The cottage is 18km from Cork, 3km to the nearest train station (which brings you to Cork in 20 mins or Midleton in 5), 6km to Midleton and 3km to Carrigtwohill. Bicycles are available. Close by, Midleton is a busy town with a bookshop, weekly farmers market, a library, pubs and restaurants.
