Description
Hello, we are a family of six and we live in Padova, a nice city about one hour away from Venice.
Our children are 17, 13, 9 and 5 yo.
My husband and I deeply like travelling and getting in contact with different cultures, I might say we love the idea of cultural exchange itself, getting in touch and sharing experiences with foreing people, thus taking the chance for us and our kids to practice English.
Our last experience with workaway dates back to five years ago, in the meantime our family enlarged and there was no longer enough room for a guest, but in a while our eldest daughter will spend some weeks studying in Argentina and her room will be vacant, so this can be our chance to host someone new and enjoy cultural exchange again.
Our previous experiences with workawayers have been very lucky, we met some very special people and among them three precious friends that we are still keeping in touch with. What made this bond so tight is probably the quality time spent together and their ability to enjoy their time here and give their best.
We are looking for a reliable and staid person, well-disposed and helpful, willing to listen and join our family as a part of it. We need you to be honest and confident, and also active, which might sound weird but I must say that lazy people, lying on the sofa all day long, really drive us crazy... we need help with the kids but we really want you to LIVE our town and the experiences you can find here, so please feel free to go outside and explore the city when we don't need your help, in the meantime we will spend some simple family time resting with our kids or taking a break from our host role :-)
We live in an apartment: on the second floor there are a single room and a bathroom exclusively available for our guest.
The neighborood is very quiet, nice for running or simply strolling around, you can reach the city center in about 20 minutes by bus or by bike. It's very easy to visit Venezia from Padova (30-40 mins by train).Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Padova is a quite big and very nice city, really close to Venice (about 30 minutes by train). Both these cities have important historical monuments, churches, squares and places to be visited.
In the surroundings of Padova you can find Colli Euganei, which are a very quiet and suggestive place, great for walks, excursions, and local food.
Even Verona, Vicenza, Treviso and Bologna can be easily reached by public means in one hour or less.Projets impliquant des enfants

From September 2024 we will need support with our kids and some little help around the house.
I work in an office (mon/fri 8-15) and I'm currently studying at the university, my husband is a shift worker about to start a professional training course, so we may need some help in managing everything. My parents moved to Portugal in 2018, so we can only count on my mother-in-law's help occasionally.
We are looking for a preferably female volunteer, English speaker, who could help us by picking up our 2 youngest kids at school, taking them to after-school activities (very close to our house or easily reachable by public transport), helping them with homework or simply looking after them when we're not at home.
Our timetable partially changes every week, but generally our nanny is not required to look after the kids more than 3 hours a day.
As regards the time spent with the kids, we want you to feel comfortable in our home, be yourself and feel free to do things spontaneously. The only specific requests are to speak English as much as possible (better if you know a little Italian for emergencies) and to make our children feel safe with you, listened to and valued.
We have a lady who helps us cleaning our house once a week so we don't need you to do any specific housework, it's just expected from every family member to cooperate in keeping the house clean and tidy, we help each other in everything, and even the kids are used in collaborating and cleaning after themselves.
We would appreciate if our guest understands/speaks some Italian because our youngest children don't speak English, and in case of need it would be better to have a plan B for communicating.Langues

Sunny and bright single room (single bed, bedside table, wardrobe, desk) and private bathroom on the second floor of our apartment (only the shower is shared with us, on the first floor). There's air conditioning system on both the floors.

The bus stop is very close to our house, you can get to the city center in about 20 minutes by bus or by bike. in the neighborhood there's a nice pub where you can have a beer, eat something or listen to live music twice a week. Moreover in your spare time you can make some little daytrips in the surroundings, you can visit museums, Churches or simply walk through the town.

We spent a couple of months together, our children immediately felt at ease and became deeply attached to her, it's been a sad moment when she left and the only comfort is to know she's still around so we can meet again soon :-)
