Description
We are a registered NGO with the aim to be there for disabled children and to give them a save and happy future. On the outskirts of Dar es Salaam we built a children’s home for 8-12 kids with disabilities, in which they will be supported in the best possible way and, above all, loved.
Our team consists of 10 wonderful, local staff. And, we can host up to two committed volunteers at the same time.
Why are we especially dedicated to support disabled children?
In Tanzania the topic of disability is still taboo. Oftentimes it is related to the people's tradition, which defines disability as a curse. Entire families are considered cursed and are expelled because of a disabled child.
But even without this superstition, living with a disabled child in the poor living conditions in Tanzania is not easy. Usually, all family members (especially both parents, if both are still present) have to contribute to the family’s livelihood and survival. If a family has a disabled child, who needs to be cared for 24/7, one source of income is lost and the family gets into big trouble.
These are two of many reasons why handicapped children are often abandoned or, very tragically, often killed.
Together we can make a difference in the children's and their family's life. Help us to keep this important work running and creating a space of love and joy for our wonderful kids.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

You will get the chance to see and get a feel of the everyday life of working class Tanzanian people. It will be most probably very different to how you are used to live. How does a market look like in Dar es Salaam? Where do locals go and enjoy theire days off? How does it feel to get around with a Bajaji or a Piki Piki? What is a Chipsi Mayai? If you have an open mind there will be surely plenty of opportunities to see, hear, feel, taste and experience Tanzania in a very unique way.
We also offer a preparation workshop. In this workshop, you will prepare for your stay with us in the best possible way with professional support and reflect beforehand on possible stumbling blocks, the Tanzanian culture and your support with us.
Before you will stay with us you could spend a couple of weeks in Zanzibar to learn Swahili. And afterwards you might want to visit magical places such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorogoro Crater, Mt. Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar, just to name a few. Karibu, Tanzania is waiting for you.Projets impliquant des enfants

You play an important role, providing much-needed support, assistance, and individual attention that is crucial for children’s growth and development. As a volunteer you will be helping our staff. You will feed our children, doing excercises, playing and go on walks with them. And there is always an opportunity to bring them to the close-by beach and enjoy the day togerhter with them. They really love the water and the white sand. If you have office skills or special interest in do-it-yourself work there is always something to do in and around the house. You see there are plenty of tasks waiting to be done and it is up to you where you can provide most value to our team.

Only communication was challenging. He moved the furniture in the room without asking and left three weeks earlier than planned without consultation. He was gone within an hour while I was just out of the house.
