Description
This is a voluntary, not for profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that strives to decrease the gender gap in Tanzania and fight for equal access to social services for young girls, youth, and women. our organisation works within four different schools within rural Iringa: two primary schools and two secondary schools. The organization is dedicated to girls’ futures and to the overall betterment of not only Iringa, but all of Tanzania, by empowering girls to become thoughtful professionals, leaders, and contributing members of society. Our dream is to see equal educational, social, and professional opportunities for girls as their male peers.
Girls and women face multiple social, mental, and physical challenges within Tanzania such as the denial of their right to education, gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, teen pregnancies, a higher risk of contracting HIV/AIDS, lack of menstrual cycle education, higher likelihood of dropping out of school, malnutrition, inability to own properties, and decreased chance of leadership opportunities.
What We Do?
i. We work diligently to find a sponsor for the girls within our program. Once they are sponsored,
we distribute aid monthly to girls and provide education to their schools.
ii. We also teach schools, both in and out of our program, about menstrual cycles, reproductive
health, child rights, hygiene, STDs/HIV, and are always looking to expand.
It is important to bring a laptop for you to work on, and a camera would be beneficial, too.
Tanzania is a peaceful country, and our staff is dedicated to ensuring volunteers safety.
Our hosting capacity is 1 to 5 individuals.
our headquarters are located in Iringa region (Southern Highlands of Tanzania). There is cool climatic condition with average temperature of 19.5C.
The Foundation warmly welcomes volunteers from allover the world to come and work, help and share with us experiences in ensuring that Girls and Women enjoy equal balances in the society.
Volunteers will be under the organization, under the management of the director Mr. Casto.
I and my staff prefer privacy and commitment, we are tolerant to new behaviors, trustful and respectful. Organization staff are ready to be with workawayers for 15 hours per day. We would prefer a non-smoker but will allow smoking outside as long as you put your butts in the bin provided/around. We don't prefer drug takers and excessive drinking.
Evening walks, watching movies and reading books are my hobbies as well as humanitarian activities being my favorite activity.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Stay with Casto’s family outside of Iringa town, in a nearby village, in a private room with a double bed and private bathroom.
There is no internet access at home, unless you use your own hotspot off your phone from a local sim card (Vodacom, Halotel or Tigo).
If there are multiple volunteers, the room, bed, and bathroom will have to be shared.
Mosquito nets, blankets, and a pillow are provided.Autres infos...
The schools in the villages are closed for half of the month of March, half of the month of September and all of June and all of December. Meaning, there will be limited NGO & village school activities and no outreaching during these times. NGO tasks are limited during these months, but the NGO’s office operates out of a private secondary school so there are still many opportunities to volunteer. You can teach a class at the private secondary school, manage their online school database, help with school repairs/updates (painting, repairing chalk boards, etc.), or farm with the family.
