Description
We are a St. Louis couple looking to challenge what sustainable living can mean in an urban context. In 2021, we purchased a vacant lot from the city landbank in the vibrant Benton Park West neighborhood in St. Louis City. We are now in the second year of constructing an environmentally regenerative tiny house from mostly reclaimed/upcycled materials and creating a urban organic farm/permaculture garden space. This project is made possible by a strong community and the beautiful people who make it up.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
You can expect to learn about alternative building, sustainable energy, and community. Tiggs is a master craftsman and can build anything from nothing. I am passionate about gardening and am excited to create a vibrant and diverse garden space. Through this project, a beautiful and diverse community of neighbors, activists, WorkAwayers, and other wonderful people have come together to support what we are doing. We are part of a foodshare network - several times a week we rescue quality food that was destined for the landfill and share it with the community. You can expect to meet, and share a meal with, some of the many people who have made this project possible.

We are looking for Workawayers who can help with us, and our two kids (8 and 9 years old), with the construction of an environmentally sustainable tiny house and help in the garden. More than just a functional, minimalistic living space, this house will be a creative expression with opportunities for volunteers to show off their artistic skills.
We are asking for 5 hours of work, 5 days a week from Workawayers and will provide accommodations and shared meals or food to prepare your own meals. Our program is designed for short-term stays (2 weeks maximum).Langues

You will be staying in our recently renovated "shabin" or sailboat (on trailer). This is a one room shack/cabin located behind our living space. The shabin has an attached greenhouse and opens to an organic garden. The sailboat has a small bedroom cabin and sitting area. The bathroom/shower is located 100 meters away in the woodshop/studio.
