  • Description

We are Robert and Liva from Denmark, exploring Japan in the spring of 2024.

We just finished our bachelors in engineering and are looking for ways to support our travels while exploring Japanese culture at a close hand.
We have a working holiday visa issued the 16th of February and we are eager to use it!

We are happy, easygoing and hardworking people that loves a challenge, both physical and mental. We are trying to learn Japanese for this reason and to immerse ourselves in Japanese culture and customs.

We are fluent in English and Danish, as well as proficient in German, Swedish and Norwegian.

We are ready to work at any time during our stay (until June) and we only hope for new and interesting experiences.

Robert is a bachelor in biomedical engineering and is a man of many passions. Among these is the art of cooking. He’s an amazing cook already and would love to explore the culture and techniques of the Japanese kitchen!
Besides Robert is skillful by hand, a quick learner and tends to master everything he puts his mind to!

Liva is a bachelor in civil engineering with in construction and has passion for especially sustainability within this field. She’s especially has an interest in the traditional Japanese construction techniques as well as the aesthetics. Besides she loves handcraft and loves to knit, crochet, sew among others and would love to explore Japanese handcraft skills!

We have both experience with light construction work from our own apartment and from growing up in old houses with never ending tasks both on the house and gardening. DIY is our first thought when facing most problems :)

    Work experience:

Liva has been working next to her studies at a hotel and restaurant called Kanalhuset having managerial responsibilities for three years. Prior to that she’s has been waitressing at other restaurants and working at a kindergarten.

Robert has been working at a neuroscience institute at a Danish state hospital called NRU. He’s been working primarily with depression and epilepsy patients for two-three years. Prior to that he’s been working with services and sales, and in a busy kitchen.

We have both done a lot of volunteer work. Robert has done several years of interviewing and intercultural camps for American Field Service (AFS) - an exchange program for Danes before and after an exchange program. He has done this both as a teacher and as a cook. We have both done different language cafes, speaking Danish and English with Syrian refugees trying to pass the Danish language test to obtain citizenship or asylum - this was done at Venligboerne. To that we have done homework cafés for Dansk Flygtningehjælp (Danish Refugee Council) and Red Barnet (Save the Children). Besides these things we have organised fundraisers for The Red Cross, and collected funds door to door.

This sounds like a lot, but it’s always a fun and interesting experience to challenge yourself and hopefully help people in the process.

We can’t wait to meet you!
