Description

A merchant mariner by trade, I spend my off time adventuring outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Friendships are very important to me, old and new. I try to balance my life between adventures with friends, solo time, efforts toward causes that are important to me, and of course family. I love trying new things and learning/honing my skills, and its always a pleasure to meet new people and cultures. I am very friendly and enjoy getting to know people.

I work at sea for 6 months out of the year, and have free time the other 6 months. I like to hike, backpack, climb, ski, sail, boat, and almost anything outdoors!

I have traveled a fair amount, but have realized I haven't experienced the places I've been in the way I would like to. I hope to experience new places and make new friends while contributing to a community or project that leaves a lasting impact. Travel is a two way street, and I'd like to provide my skills and time to the places that welcome me.

A merchant mariner by trade, I enjoy new places, hard work, and meeting new people. Having worked the past 5 years at sea, I am well versed in all things nautical (I hold a 1600 Ton Masters license, Unlimited 2M). When I'm off my ship I spend most of my time outside, working on my family property, backpacking, climbing, skiing, and doing handyman work for friends and family.

Landwise, I've worked as a National Forest Ranger, solo backpacking in the wilderness, maintaining trails and interacting with the public. I'm proficient with saws, crosscut, chainsaws, axes.

I also maintain a family home and wooded property. Much of the work includes land maintenance (mowing, landscaping, limbing, burn piles), gardening (planting, weeding, building beds), and wood stocking (chopping, chainsaw, splitting). House work includes carpentry, plumbing, pressure washing, drywall, chimney sweeping, and lots of other projects. I am proficient with all power tools as well as operating large machinery.

Ocean wise, I've worked on various ships over the past ten years, but have been working on Research Vessels for the past 5. In my current job, I drive a 170' vessel and oversee a crew of 12 to complete various science projects. I've done maintenance on many types of boats over the years (steel, fiberglass, aluminum), and used to sail a 30' sailboat in the Pacific Northwest.

I love doing anything outdoors, hiking, backpacking, climbing, wakeboarding, sailing, you name it. I also love to play games! I enjoy being active and social, but also love time to be quiet, rest and read. I love to play music and sing (mostly guitar).
