Hi our names are Roisin and Sofia and we have been doing workaways since September 2023. I (Roisin) moved to Porto this April to further my experience working as chef. I grew up on a dairy farm back in Ireland and have worked there most of my life so being around nature and animals brings me the most happiness. I have over 8 years experience working in hospitality.
I (Sofia) have been studying and working in pharmacy. I also have experience working on a farm, customer service and food industry. This year I am moving out of my home country to gain new perspectives and experiences.
We are currently completing a workaway on an alpaca farm in Germany and are looking for a new long term workaway for the new year !

I (Roisin) grew up and worked all my life on a farm. I have a great connection to animals and their welfare. On the farm I milked the cows, looked after sheep, chickens , pigs and horses.
In September I did an off grid sustainable experience living in a cave house for 5 weeks here I completed many tasks including learning about horticulture and drilling. We also have a large vegetable garden in our field.
I have a bachelors degree in criminology and my masters completed in addiction counselling. I love working with people and listening to their life experiences and seeing if I can offer support or help in anyway.
I then worked as a chef in two different restaurants one back in Ireland and now in Porto.
I (Sofia) have specialized in pharmacy. Before our current workaway, I was doing an internship in a community pharmacy. This involved carrying out the daily tasks of running the pharmacy while providing the best service and care to the customers. Prior to working in the pharmacy I also have work experience in the food industry involving customer service and food preperation. I also have experience working on a dairy farm where I assisted Roisins dad during calving season. Here I helped to feed the cows and the calves. Recently, I've worked on an alpaca farm where I was in charge of caring and looking after the animals. This involved feeding, cleaning and handling.

We have both completed long term workaways so we are committed and looking for something long term.
From working on farms with Alpacas, sheep, cows etc we have extensive knowledge on different animals.
Being a team player and motivated in our tasks are very important to us.
This is why we look for workaways that fulfill both of our interests.
