Hello :)
I‘m Mara, 25 years old and a carpenter from Oldenburg in northern Germany.
I am still quite new to the workaway community. Friends of mine have been travelling and doing volunteer work quite some time and they got me excited to also do it. My first ever workaway experience was in portugal and I loved every second of it!
I tend to be quiet and kind of shy when I first meet new people. But give me one or two days and you’ll have a happy and hard working goofball in front of you. I like to travel and explore nature, different cities, new countries. I love trying food that is new to me and learning bits and pieces of a new language.
My hobbies include analog photography, reading, going out to dance through the night, yoga and going on walks so long that my friends start to wonder if I got lost .
I did my apprenticeship as a carpenter for two and a half years and finished top of my class this summer.

I am a trained carpenter. Through out my apprenticeship a worked with building new roofs, restoring old roofs, flat roofs. With all roofs I have experience not just with the construction itself but also with insulation and the roof tiles/roofing.
I also worked with dry walls. I would love to work with the ecological counterparts, meaning clay and complete wood houses. (Here in germany the common house is build with stone and only the roof construction is made out of wood :( )
I have some experience in babysitting and worked as a harvest helper in New Zealand, picking Kiwis.
