Description
I am an active senior citizen living in my own home and enjoying the beauty of the nearby ocean, forests and mountains that surround my urban community. I have travelled the world but am also happy in my home enjoying music, books and community interests. In my early days I was an Elementary School teacher, but set that aside to raise a family of five amazing young people who have also become world travellers. When my children were teenagers I returned to University for a BA in Classical Studies followed by a MLIS (Masters of Information), and worked at the University of British Columbia as a Reference Librarian. I love learning and stay up to date with current technology. I enjoy sharing my own culture and as well as reflecting on my extensive travel experiences. I look forward to sharing my home with non smokers.

West Vancouver is a small urban centre surrounded by wilderness with mountains to hike or ski, and the ocean to swim or sail. The larger City of Vancouver is a short bus ride away, offering exciting venues, galleries, and museums. A transit bus stop is a 7-minute walk from the house and connects with transit throughout the Metro Vancouver area.
I am an active member of our local Seniors Activity Centre which offers many opportunities for volunteer work. The city also offers an opportunity to observe and study our rich First Nations Canadian cultures, specifically the Squamish, Haida, and Squamish nations.Help
I am self sufficient, but age has a way of limiting some of my activities around my house and garden. I do not mind helping someone with a task, or having them ensure my safety when I am doing it. I am also open to learning a new way of achieving the same results. I take pride in maintaining my home and hope to continue to live here for many years.
I enjoy hiking local trails and would delight in introducing these forest and urban experiences to a newcomer.Languages spoken

Accommodation
Accommodations in my smoke free home include a separate bedroom with a view of English Bay. It has a double bed with two side drawers, and two three-drawer chests and desk. A sofa under a skylight offers comfortable reading space. There is a private bathroom with shower. The separate patio entrance opens to a kitchen/living area which includes a small fridge, one burner hot plate and toaster oven, cutlery and utensils,. Dining table, chairs and sofa complete the scene.
A work-away will be able to prepare light meals for herself as well as share meals with me. After years of feeding a large family I have lost some of my interest in planning and shopping for meals and food preparation, but I’m confident a traveller will not go hungry and perhaps can share his/her culinary skills. I'm interested in trying more vegetarian meals. What else ...
Transit bus stop is 7 minutes away from the wonders of Vancouver.
