    Hi!

    My name is Zachery and i'm the Founder and CEO of a not-for-profit, non governmental Community Based Organization First registered in 2020 and then renewed in 2022 operating in the rural area of Tororo District in Eastern Uganda. We are involved in Empowering Vulnerable and Poor communities on Livelihoods Improvement and Environmental wellbeing.

    AREAS OF FOCUS:

    1) Education (School supplies, scholastic materials, sponsorships, school infrastructure among others)

    2) Access to clean and safe water (Drilling Boreholes/ wells, Water harvesting technologies etc)

    3) Economic Empowerment (Provide resources, trainings and opportunities).

    4) Promoting Environmental conservation initiatives (Tree planting, Energy saving technologies, Capacity Building among others)

    Founded in 2019, DA exists to identify, develop and promote talent, projects, programs and activities on and related to the fight against the causes and consequence of poverty, ill health, biodiversity loss and marginalization for livelihoods improvements and Environmental conservation.

    OVERALL OBJECTIVE:
    The overall objective is to promote the Social, Economic, Health, and Environmental wellbeing for Livelihoods improvement and Nature conservation among the poor, Persons with Disabilities, Children, and the Youth in Tororo District and Uganda as a whole.

    MISSION:
    To Provide a comprehensive and sustainable reprieve of poverty, biodiversity loss, misfortune, disability, destitution and hopelessness experienced by individuals, communities and environment in partnership with organizations' involved in the same.

    VISION:
    Address the Causes of poverty, Biodiversity loss and Marginalization and their Consequence.

    ACHIEVEMENT
    -Drilled a community Boreholes providing consistent access to clean and safe water to over 1000 people in Kisia village.
    -Supported 634 children especially disadvantaged girls and boys with scholastic materials distributing 7608 Exercise Books and 3170 Pens and pencils.
    -Sponsored 15 young people to train in different tertiary institutions including training as a nurse, catering service providers and high school by paying their tuition fees
    -Supplied 7 brand new sewing machines and start up fabrics to seven young tailors to start tailoring business.
    -Planted over 7000 trees on degraded habitats and on-farm with communities
    -Supported 10 elderly persons with feeding, housing, medical supplies

    Currently the organization secretariat is headed by the Founder and CEO-Zachery and responsible for the day to day running of the organization. I'm assisted by Joseph who is the programs officer and responsible for coordinating program activities at the organization. In addition, the organization has Finance and administration Officer-Gerald who is responsible for coordinating finance and administration activities of the organization including preparing finance reports and finance management. Henry is the overall community coordinator charged with the responsibility of mobilizing communities and coordination of community activities, while Diana is the Projects Officer and responsible for coordinating Project activities.

    -Learn about Jopadhola Culture, practices and History
    -Visit Tieng Adhola (Cultural Institution of the Jopadhola Community)
    -Climb Tororo Rock-The Eiffel Tower of Tororo
    -Learn Dhopadhola (A luo dilect spoken by the Jopadhola communities) Languange
    -Visit other Places like Falls, National Parks, among others around the Pearl of Africa

    Workawayers will participate in community events and activities where they learn and participate in cultural and community activities

    As a community Based Nonprofit Organization involved in empowering rural and disadvantaged communities, we are looking to connect with travelers who can;

    -Support with Fundraising (Both crowdfunding and grant writing)
    -Host or organize events to raise funds/establish partnerships for the organization
    -Teach English and STEM Subjects in Primary and Secondary Schools
    -Participate in Tree Planting and Environment and conservation related Projects
    -Promotion of Energy Saving Technologies
    -Support with computer and Internet for learners and communities
    -Mobilize supplies such as Balls, equipments and other donations to support rural communities
    -Sports training activities for the youth
    -Support with Social Media Marketing
    -Make Visual and Videos to promote our charities activities
    -Become Global volunteer team/representatives to promote and support the organization activities in their community.
    -Participate in Community activities like horticulture and crop cultivation

    The volunteer will be staying within our home. We have up to Five Single rooms

    A single room will be given to one volunteer or a couple.

    The Bathrooms here are different than in other countries. We have a SQUAT TOILET and a BUCKET SHOWER but after some days you will be used to it.

    Being in the Countryside, we also rely on Solar system which may not be stable depending on the weather

    Yes we give free accommodation.
    We shall provide 3 meals a day for the volunteers.

    What else ...

    -During your free time you could visit and explore different places that 'The Pearl of Africa' Land scape and Biodiversity including Tororo, Osukuru Hills, Mount. Elgon, River Malaba, Mplogoma .

    -You could also visit Tororo and explore the different sceneries' and Hospitality place which you could reach with a boda (motorbike) or Taxi in 30 minutes (Around 6 USD Round Trip).

    It's also possible to visit Mbale City, which is only 1 hour away from Tororo (around 4 USD).
