    Description

My Name is Phoebe and I am helping my father search for a workaway to help us in a Hamlet at 920 m altitude in the Massive Centrale where we live. We moved here 5 years ago, from London to have a better quality of life . Our family is small , just myself and my parents. My mother is a writer, my father Is an architect/artist and I am working in hospitality locally.
We have a vegetable garden, Orchard and an old farm house that we are renovating. This will be my fathers third renovation of a house that he designs and builds himself. He needs an extra pair of hand for this project!

He is able to teach a number of skills:

    -beekeeping
    -carpentry
    -general construction
    -plumbing
    -electric
    -no dig gardening/ bio gardening
    -shearing sheep

If you look to improve english we help you with that !

My father is originally from New Zealand and worked very hard for the life he created for himself, so he has a strong work ethic. Please do not apply if you just want a casual holiday or you cannot do physical work for 5 hours per day.
Of course he is also very respectful and fair of anyone helping him , as he has been in positions before where he was not treated fairly. We make sure you are adequately fed, comfortable and do not over do yourself. If you try hard in the 5 hours we have a mutual respect between us. he can teach you a lot from his working experience.

    Help

We are looking for someone who is PHYSICALLY FIT and keen to help out with MAINLY CONSTRUCTION (rebuilding a stone wall) and potentially a hand in the garden (weeding, harvesting, composting ) from time to time

How I would like to approach this workaway:
If you come here to help, we do tasks for a week, and after that if we are working well together, then you can stay longer. You help 5 hours per day, 5 days per week, start at 9 am with a lunch break.

    What else ...

In the hamlet is a small Auberge where I work, which has a farm to table and natural wine scene; you can go there for coffee, drinks, to hang out with a beer or somthing.
Please be aware that other than the Auberge there is no shops or other establishments in our hamlet, so you will need to have your own car so on your downtime you can leave the village if you like. If you do not have a car this is also possible as we provide you with food, however if you want to leave the village on your down time you have to depend on other people who can drive you down.
There is a number of places for wild swimming in the rivers well as a lake 15 min drive away. There are some good restaurants that are not so far from our village. The nearest town ( with supermarkets) is Brioude (cute market town with restaurants, and art gallery) and the Nearest city is Clermont Ferrand, only 1 hour away. There are a lot of wine makers in the area, so if you are into that then its perfect. We live in the Livradois forest, where you can hike and we can show you some routes. We can of course give you suggestions and show you where things are. There is a library in the Auberge which you can use for working on a laptop or just to read! Everyone is quite young and friendly here and you can hang out with us .
The Nearest train station is Brassac Les Mines.

We Speak English primarily in the household, however my wife and daughter speak French as well. We are non smoking household, you are welcome to smoke away from the property.
