    Description

Our project: We are building a new cellar as an extension to our cottage.

We are located on top of the mountain/hill, 1 km from Lake Balaton. The cottage looks over the lake - it’s a beautiful view. The land around the house is big and is surrounded by woods.

We have electricity, but there’s no water system installed yet. We supply our drinking water from either the village down by the lake or a nearby town (15km away) where we can get natural (mineral) spring water. We fill our bottles from there.

We have a water tank (cistern) which collects rainwater. We use this water for hand washing and showers/washes. We enjoy the beautiful view while washing dishes.

The toilet is located in the garden - 30 meters from the house.

You can find lots of different types of herbs around the house. You can also enjoy picking mushrooms after the rain.

The area is excellent for hiking or taking long walks. The scenery is beautiful around here. We are located in the Káli Basin - which some people call The Hungarian Tuscany. There are numerous places to get mineral water from.

There’s a big town - Tapolca - 30km-s from our lovely little village, where you can find a big supermarket - Tesco. This is great for doing a big shop, or if you want to do a daily shop you can find grocery stores down by the lake, at the foot of the mountain in the village.

You can swim in the lake in the village, and in Tapolca there’s a nice park with a watermill, a small little river with koi fish in it, and a lake cave. It’s worth checking out, it’s beautiful.

It’s good to know, that sometimes we get visitors in our garden in the form of wild boars. They come to eat the figs and pears when they are ripe, or just to hide away. They won’t disturb you if you don’t disturb them. It’s only natural that they come into the garden - the forest is actually their home.

We also have visitors in the house - or should I say, guests or roommates. They are called dormouse. They are small like a mouse, but they have long furry tails like a squirrel. They are super cute and they won’t hurt anyone. They like to live with us, in the house. They are an endangered species.

It’s good to mention, that we have no air conditioning in the house.

If you have a sleeping bag, please let us know - so we know if we need to supply bedding.

We can accommodate guests from the 18th of August for up to 1,5 week.
