Description
Heia! We are Freya and Stig, and 2 teenage kids. We love both gardening and animals, and do have a lot of ideas, plans and unfinished projekts, but too little time to manage everyting. That is why we search for someone to share our enthusiasm and help us.
We try to live of the land! We fish, gather herbs, mushroom and other plants from the surroundings. On the farm we have a vegetable-, fruit- and berrygarden, are keeping bees, and have animals for meat, egg and other purposes (chickens, rabbits, ducks and geese. The neighbour has sheep that grass on our land). In that way we try to create a little, self- sufficient ecological system that keeps itself going. We process and take care of all food through pickling, freezing, smoking, making sausage, drying, brewing, making cheese and so on. We also bake our own bread in a wood-fired oven. We focus on lokal food production, with roots in norwegian tradition. This is an important part of the experience of coming to us, so we would prefer not to host people with severe food allergies. We neither can welcome people who travel with their own pets, due to our own lifestock.
Another important part of the experience of coming to us is reuseing, making things from scratch and practising old crafts. We have tried out many types such as basket weaving, blacksmithing, wood carving, wood turning, soap making and more. Freya has a CA as a violinmaker, and runs å little workshop on the farm. If those of you who come to us have knowledge of other crafts, we would like to learn and try them out.
The farm itself is a typical norwegian "småbruk" consisting of several houses which have their own purposes each. Due to their age the buildings need care and reparasjon, which is part of our projects.
If we find time for it, we like to spend time in nature, go for walks, spend the night in a hammock or tent, paddle a canoe or kayak, etc. Some in the family are keen to shoot with a bow and arrow (not for hunting), some play music and others doing arts. We are a playfull family!Types of help and learning opportunities

For our guests, we hope this will be an experience of Norwegian culture and life on a small farm. It is also ment as an example of living a sustainable lifestyle in the modern world.
Help
We want to get help with all our tasks, such as maintaining buildings, painting, restauration of buildings, gardening, animal care and housework.
We adults work full time jobs. This might cause a change of working time for those who come and visit us, since we usually work on the farm in workday evenings and week-ends.
Living on the farm is our lifestile, and we rather perfer to fokus on the joy of experimenting, trying new things and succseeding – and sometimes even failing. We do not consider that work connected to our lifestyle as labor, rather than as an endless source of new experiences. In that way we do have quite a few unfinished projects, which we grab again when we have the opportunity - and the energy. The farm is our retreat from our stessful and demanding works, and we do fokus on laughter, recreation and joy while we are at home. In this way, we do decide in the morning what we would like to do that day. It is therefore not possible to say exactly what we and our visitors are going to do during their stay, besides animal care, which is a daily job.Languages

Guests share bathroom, kitchen and living room with us, but have their own bedroom.
The guests eat and work together with the family, but also do have access to the kitchen to cook their own food if desired. We see your visit as an opportunity to exchange both experience and culture. What else ...
The farm is approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes from Trondheim and Værnes airport. We can offer the necessary transport both on arrival and departure, plus some excursions the guests want. We have good knowledge of the region we live in, and can provide transport to the nearest public transport point. The farm itselv is quite isolated, 4 km from the nearest village/supermarked and 20 km fom the nearest town/public transport. Together with the guests we can find interesting experiences and things they want to do.
There are several small towns, museums, swimming pools, Zoo with lokal animals, library, training centers, salmon fishing (own fees!) and more in the area to discover. Remeber that the distances in Norway might be longer than expected 😉A little more information

Freya and Stig really made us feel comfortable on the first day when they treated us to homemade wood-fired pizzas. Surprisingly, the pizzas weren’t even the best part. The meal variety was brilliant and being able to explore the different tastes of some more traditional Norwegian foods took the stay up another level.… read more
