    Description

We are a married couple, British and Zambian who recently moved from the city to a rural village after realising we preferred a much simpler, more fulfilling way of life. We have three dogs, two chickens & Twenty goats. With the help of our new neighbours, we have built our farm house using mostly material from around the village. We shared our building story online and got a lot of requests from people wanting to come and visit us. So we built 4 rental cottages and have gotten so much support. we are currently employing 4 people. Mary, Ernest, Timothy and Charles. Timothy and Ernest tend to the garden and animals, while Mary and Charles help with running the Bed & Breakfast. this includes, welcoming guests, taking them on hikes, picnics and housekeeping. We have found someone to train our employees in hospitality. Now we are looking for someone to help us train them how to grow and nurture our garden. (food & flowers)
Our cottages are 100% self-catering so you would not be required to serve food and drinks to guests.

As a member of our team, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of rural Zambian life while providing exceptional experiences to our guests. We live in a close-knit community village and are always learning from the community ourselves. The village is made up of mostly subsistence farmers and so we are learning from our neighbours how to build our own garden. this is something you would also be a part of.

You will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding our garden. Your responsibilities will include:
    1. Garden Maintenance: Taking care of existing plants, trees, and flowers, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.

    2. Planting and Harvesting: Sowing seeds, planting new greenery, and harvesting organic produce from our garden.

    3. Design and Creativity: Bringing your creative ideas to life by enhancing the garden's aesthetics and layout.

    4. Sustainability: Exploring eco-friendly gardening practices, composting, and rainwater harvesting to minimise our environmental impact.

We have to emphasise that the trainee would have no experience in tourism and hospitality as we live in a rural village where people have little access to education. So we would need someone patient and open to help empower others.

During your time off, you can visit the Lower Zambezi National which is just about 50km from where we are. in our village we also have the historic leopards Hill Bat Caves. We love to have picnics on the Zambezi escarpment with our friends. We would provide a car for you to use to drive to the city or tourist sites.
