Area: Queensland, Stanthorpe ( Granite Belt )This is our way of meeting people from other cultures and backgrounds. This is your opertunity to come to a popular backpacker area and receive accomodation in exchange for a small amount of hours per week. My wife and I run a small farm (165 acres) with cattle, alpaca, chickens, ducks, quail and bees. We produce most of our own meat and vegatable needs during the year. This includes preserving, drying and curing our produce for use during the year. Our desire is to establish an on-farm experience for international travellers ( like you / backpackers ) in an active agricultural region. We want to hear about your home and tell you about ours. Anything we know - we are happy to teach. Anything you know - we are happy to learn. Any farm work you do here can be signed off towards your second year visa.
Area: NavarreWe are a small family running a small rural motel in the wine producing area of northern Spain. We´ve been running this place for the past 12 years but there´s always work that has to be done that we can´t manage to keep up with...it would be lovely to have some extra willing hands! When we do our Language teaching courses with school children we might also enjoy help with teaching English.
Area: MunsterShort stays only.... * We are currently looking for help with small-carpentry projects and some garden work, we can only offer 2-3 nights stay as work is limited... * We have just bought our first home in Clonakilty and are looking for helping hands for lots of different projects. Our vision for the house is to be as self sufficient as possible with heat, hot water & cooking already running of a wood fired rayburn cooker, also to minimize waste & be as closed-loop in terms of waste & resources as possible. I have trained in Permaculture and green building and plan to use that knowledge to make the house cozy and efficient. Last summer with the help of some lovely workawayers we managed to build a cob oven, mini pond out of a tractor tyre, geodesic dome, thermal solar panel and some great terraced beds in the front garden! We also now have 2 great chooks and hope to get bees this year. We are 3min walk to the town centre of Clonakilty a vibrant West Cork town with loads of music, market, food & the beach in only 5 km away. We have bikes you can borrow to get around to see surrounding countryside Please do get in touch for stays of 3 nights or more up to one week. We spent the summer 2 years ago travelling and staying with hosts around Europe and we now look forward to being hosts. We both love languages and hope to be able to practice our French & Spanish and any other languages with guests.
Area: BursaWe are a retired couple (English wife), living on the edge of the Iznik Lake 14 km from Orhangazi and 24 km from the historic town of Iznik (Nicaea). A very quiet peaceful place surrounded by olive groves. We are establishing a garden and putting finishing touches to the house. We are looking for workaways to help from mid April 2013.
Area: EnglandAt the beginning of June we bought the youth hostel in Scarborough and thanks to some brilliant Workawayers we have already had lots of happy guests, enjoyed some fantastic Spanish food and made some good friends. The hostel is fairly quiet now and we just have a few visitors, mostly at the weekend. We will begin to get busy in April next year when school groups and families will come to stay. We would be very interested to hear from a couple or two good friends who have experience of cooking in restaurants or hotels. We would like to serve our guests good, cheap meals in the evening and two Workawayers with catering experience and good customer skills could use our kitchen and the dining room to set up their own microbusiness. This is just an idea, but please get in touch if you think that you have the skills and the imagination to make it work. Scarborough is a seaside town with nice beaches and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, an ideal place for outdoor people who enjoy walking, cycling, surfing, sea swimming, bird watching, etc.
