Description
I live in a house by the marina at the south end of the Sunshine Coast, a 40 minute ferry ride from Vancouver. There are amazing west coast beaches and hiking trails only a few minutes from the neighbourhood. I am a retired teacher who is looking for help in the summer with gardening and yard care, house projects (painting, building, washing) and possibly housework .... and walking the dog.
I enjoy the challenge of doing house projects by myself or with help. Most projects are better done (and more fun) with two people.
I enjoy hiking and exploring too so am keen to show the workaway person our favourite local sites.Types of help and learning opportunities

The Sunshine Coast is a special place with ocean and forest nearby. There's lots to explore and to learn from in the area depending on how the traveller is looking to benefit from the experience here. There are world famous biking trails and kayaking opportunities. As well, there is a well established art community with regular artists exhibitions and lessons. If the traveller is looking for something easier and to walk on the beach and enjoy the ocean one day and hike in the forest the next, this is readily available.
Help
My projects include painting (walls, trim, railing, fence, deck, where ever the need is at the moment... ) annual cleaning projects, fixing whatever needs fixing, repairing fence, laying mulch in the garden, trimming plants and trees and weeding and mowing. Ted, my dog, would love it if you took him for a walk down to the marina sea walk in the morning or evening.

I have been a foreign student, my children have had foreign education experiences and I have hosted students from a variety of countries. It's always been a rich experience, and lots of fun!Accommodation
The workaway person will have their own small, but sunny bedroom and bathroom.
I will have food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and if there's something else that the worker would like, I don't mind if you take the car to the store. We can eat our meals together, or not, depending on the day. You can cook or I can cook, we can work it out. Usually, I cook dinner. What else ...
As long as you have a driver's license, I don't mind if you use the car to explore the local area. There are lots of interesting places to see in Vancouver and the transit system is really easy to use.
