Beschreibung
We are a pretty colourful bunch of nice people composed of an austrian and a middle east family and long standing international friends. Actually living here permanently: Feri (1982), Lise (1975) and Mia (1942). The children Layla (2013) and Aisha (2015) are coming regularly to see us. We also have a lot of different visitors here from all over the world.
We live here in Lower Austria at the beginning of the alps in one of the beautiful natural spring water protection areas of the city of Vienna. (100 km south of the city - by train within 1 hour). Its the last small village before the Höllental (hell canion) at the foot of the mountain Rax near the river Schwarza. We are on a hill, hidden behind ancient giant coniferous trees.
The farm was built over 150 years ago as a guest house, then used as a simple farmhouse and then converted in the style of a century-turnvilla.
From the original stable became another residential house. The old house is still very original (as 100 years ago) and it was not much changed. Until 20 years ago the farm was cultivated. At that time there were animals and vegetables and fruits were cultivated. An old fruit tree garden is still present but has to be renewed with yound trees. In some years the trees have still old apple varieties, pears, plums and cherries. We run again a veggie garden too. In the old glashouse we grow in the warmer periods tomatoes, melanzani and cucumbers. There is a big stable for the sheeps/goats, a little wood workshop and a crazy Ebike/Scooter workshop.
We have a lot of wood and we must fill up our wood storage for the winter. That means we need help with making collecting/cutting/sorting wood. In spring, we must activate the host for the warmer season (putting all winter things in storage, taking out summer tools, cleaning in the garden, around the pool, etc. ) Additionally we started to make a vegetable garden again. We need help with preparing the beds, planting, weeding, installing the water system etc.
This year we want to built an outdoor kitchen with a wood oven for making bread, pizza etc.
Additionnally we need help for Mia (she is over 80years old) like cleaning in and around the houses and have a chat with her from time to time.
In summer we have a lot of guests here. We have a big family and lot of friends from all over the world. Sometimes we have family events and we need help fot it. That means we must prepare then guest rooms and other things for them. We dont need help with paying guests and all guests relate to family and friends visiting.
We have two male MINI GOATS - Max and Moritz. We rescued them 6 years ago and they are like pets.
Since two years now we have additionlly SHEEPS - at the moment we have 14 sheeps and 2 lamps but we are expecting more lamps now. Last year we had 10 lamps. The sheeps we need for cutting the gras (we never used a gras cutter again since we have them) on the property and we keep them as farm animals to have our own meat. We must constantly improve their stables, build more fences etc. We need help with taking care of the animals daily, like feeding hey, changing drinking water, letting them in an out of the stable etc.
We already keep BEES since nearly 10 years.
Sadly we had the first time a big loss this winter because of the varroa mite. We lost 8 of 10 beehives that means we start with only 2 this year but we will enlarge the quantity again slowly.
A DACHSHOUND lady called Cilli (2016) and 2 WILD CATS (Basbus and Gasgus) live here, too.
The winters are very hard because of the mountain climate, but mostly with lots of snow. In the warm season, we have lot of fun in and with the nature, a 100 year old still functioning swimming pool, barbecues and much more. The surrounding mountains (Rax, Schneeberg, Semmering etc.) invite you to explore them.
WE PREFER PEOPLE FOR A LONGER PERIOD BECAUSE THE HOST IS VERY BIG AND ITS TO STRESSFUL TO EXPLAIN AND SHOW ALL FOR ONLY TWO WEEKS. WE SEARCH ESPECIALLY STRONG PEOPLE WHO CAN USE FOR EXAMPLE A CHAINSAW ETC AND ARE USED TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY. UNFORTUNATLY PEOPLE WITHOUT THESE SKILLS CAN APPLY TOO ;-) THE OTHER JOBS ARE TAKING CARE OF THE ANIMALS, CLEANING IN AND AROUND THE HOUSES, GARDENING, WOODWORKING, HELPING MIA WITH DAILY TASKS ETC.
WE NEED PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO BE OUTSIDE, SURROUNDED BY MOUNTAINS AND ANIMALS, THAT LIKE TO GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY AND ARE NOT AFRAID OF SOMETIMES PHYSICAL HARD WORK.
We want to promote cultural exchange and learning opportunities (especially food and language) for people who are interested!

You can improve your manual skills, learn some of keeping of goats/sheeps and bees and improve languages (German/Arabic/Englisch), food and culture.
Arbeit
As we have so many projects for which we don't always have enough time we badly need everytime help around house and farm.
Cleaning (house, stables, garages etc) has to be done daily.
Renovating, sorting, organizing
Woodcutting (prepare wood for winter) need to be done during the whole year.
We have to take care of the goats and sheeps and the bees ( cleaning the stable, feeding hey, harvesting honey, parasite treatment, feeding, controls, etc.)
We always welcome the know-how of a plumber and electrical system!
If you are not able to keep you and your surroundings clean it is not the right place for you!
Volunteers with skilled talents are really advantageous.
Due to our experiences and the dimension of the host, we prefer a longer stay of the volunteers! You need around one week to get to know everything here - thats why we suggest a minimum stay of 2 weeks. A longer stay is better for an easier living together! But due to a lot of different projects - don't hesitate to send us anyway an enquiry also for a shorter stay!
Gesprochene Sprachen

We are an open minded, uncomplicated and funny family. We love to integrate our helpers if possible in our lives.
As we are busy in many different fields it can happen sometimes that we don't have time to look after our guests around the clock. We would like to work with people who like to think independently, who can notice after a while by themeselves what should be done, who i.e. make dinner for themselves or for all of us, or take care of jobs by themselves.
In some periods of the year, especially in the summer, a lot of different people are here and in some periods it can be very quiet here, too.
-DONT COME HERE IF YOU ONLY WANT TO MAKE HOLIDAYS FOR FREE, AND YOU THINK YOU CAN FOOL US. WE DEVELOPED A VERY GOOD FEELING AND WE FIND OUT QUICKLY WHO DOESNT TAKE IT SERIOUS -
If it turns out, there is also the possibility for a longer stay, to live together and to work on projects together!
