Description
Hello Workawayers! We are looking for help in our little oasis of a garden, hidden away in the hills of Kerry. I'm from Brittany in France but I've lived in this house in the hills of southwest Ireland with my husband Gerry for nearly 40 years. Our home is located on the side of Mangerton mountain and it overlooks the valley. We live quite far from any town! Gerry has worked in the renewable energy sector for many years and our son Samuel, who's a photographer, also lives with us so there's always someone around (including at times many grandchildren!). It's a truly beautiful place and it would particularly suit anyone who likes hiking. We look forward to anyone who would like spend some time with us having good chats, learning some things about gardening and also getting a chance to explore this beautiful countryside.

As already mentioned there's an opportunity to learn about lots of different types of gardening. Gerry, my husband, has been working in the renewable energy sector for years and enjoys nothing more than explaining how it all works.
Aide
We mostly need help in our large garden. We need people for anything from 2 - 4 weeks. This work would entail helping me with some of the more physically demanding jobs such as lawn mowing or hedge trimming. Also at the busiest times of the year, I need help with transplanting , weeding and preparing the soil before planting. Being a passionate gardener I am always happy to talk about it. We have also a new building project and could at times need some help with it.

You will have your own separate accommodation right next to the house, it is totally self sufficient and has a small kitchen, where you can have your breakfast in the morning. As for the rest of the meals (which will be vegetarian), you can share them with us in the house. The accommodation has one double bed and can host a couple or a single person.
Autres infos...
As for activities, there is a lot of hiking to do in the immediate vicinity of the house. Otherwise, there are many beautiful sights and charming towns around here. There is often one of us driving into town and so lifts can be provided but please be aware that if you don't have your own transport, we are at least 15km from the nearest town that people often visit and so you will be reliant on one of us being free to drop you in, that or you can walk and then hitchhike quite easily. As for your days off, we would obviously be delighted to drive you around to explore! There is a lot of music being played and we know many musicians that play all the time in the summertime.

They were very welcoming and made us feel at home throughout our stay.
Isabelle took the time to show us beautiful County Kerry. We helped Isabelle improve her Italian (with great success) and did some garden work, like planting potatoes, mowing the grass and redecorating the gate. We loved the healthy… read more
