I had a very good time with Mary and Jimmy. The accomodation was great as I had a little hut for myself. They have a big property with a very nice park nearby. The clear night sky and the sunrises in the morning were amazing. The tasks were all doable and Jimmy explained them very well. Inbetween, there were always a few breaks for a cup of tea and something to eat. Mary's food was amazing and very healthy. The afternoons were filled with fun activities like riding the motorcycles across the field, fishing on the beach, watching motorcycle races and much more. Overall, I had a very good experience and I would definitely recommend a stay with them.

I learned a lot thanks to this experience. At the campsite there are so many things to do, but the main thing for me was working with the animals. Despite I hadn't any experience with the horses, at the end of the experience I'm really satisfied about what I learned. And the animals in general are so lovely, it's really satisfying to feed them (and of course cuddle them meanwhile!). Naduah and Martijn are nice and welcoming people, it's always fun to share experiences with them! You can tell Naduah and Martijn your preferences about the tasks and it's perfect if you have a remote job (for example I give private lessons online for a couple of hours during the week). The accommodation is a small apartment with other workawayers. I really appreciate to share the space with other people, because I think that you learn a lot about living with others. I appreciated a lot to get to know the other workawayers, to spend time with them and work together in a team. And I loved to cook for everyone to share a dinner or an happy hour! :) The campsite is surrounded by the forest and there are two lakes close by, in my opinion perfect to go out for a walk or relax. Borger is the closest town and there are some supermarkets (Albert heijn and Aldi) and some other shops (Eros and kruidvat for example). Assen is more or less 17 km. In my free time I offen used the bike to go somewhere. Another option is the bus, from the campsite 20 min by walk. In general, I loved all the environment, it was a really good experience that I'll recommend to all the people who love animals, nature and stay with people.

Nathalie and her husband Jerome were the best possible hosts you could wish for. They welcomed us and treated us like we were part of their family. We didn't have much experience of farm work beforehand, but they taught us a lot about working on a farm. In addition to the farm work, they also took us around Mauritius and showed us their life and culture outside the farm. They were always ready to help with any small problem that arose, and even when we left the farm to travel alone in Mauritius for two weeks before returning to Denmark, we could always call or text them if there was anything. A typical day on the farm would be working from 7-10am. You have three hours of work a day, it's best to do it early when it's not so hot yet. The work can be very different, it can be anything from planting banana trees, weeding or snail hunting. For the most part, it's not hard physical work. Nathalie and Jerome are always good to help if you haven't tried different things before. The rest of the day can be spent doing whatever you want, like going to a nearby town, just relaxing on the farm or beating Nathalie at Rummikub. You live in two very cozy decorated containers, one of which is a bedroom and the other is a living room, kitchen and bathroom. You are responsible for cooking yourself, or there is a shoppingmall with restaurants within walking distance.

Valerio is patient, with a beautiful vision of what his land will become. I am honored to have been a part of the work to bring the vision closer to reality. This experience is certainly unique, in that it is a fully plant/organic-based lifestyle. I learned much about eating vegan and have integrated some of the diet into my own eating habits. Valerio will keep you fed, healthy, and strong. This work does require some autonomy, as Valerio has other tasks he must tend to so you can find yourself working alone. I was mainly focused on picking rocks from the field, helping to complete the cobb on some walls, and clearing weeds from walking paths. The work is physically intensive, but well worth it in the end. There is so much to learn by coming here, but you must enter with an open mind and be prepared to be put outside of your comfort zone if you've never lived on an eco-village before. I am grateful to have been a part of Fattoria for 3 weeks, and I'll always remember.

We had a great time with these guys. Clare effortlessly took care of the the kids and helped around the house and Matt got me over the hump of finishing a project that had stagnated. Nothing was too much trouble and the evening were full of jokes and laughter. Exactly what hosting and workaways is all about-thank you and see you soon!

We had a a great time at Libby’s. Our jobs varied from DIY jobs; hanging mirrors and paintings, installing a bathroom towel rail and outdoor hose and other odd jobs. Our main priority was weeding the kikuya grass and whilst Libby was away (during the majority of our stay) we stepped in as her airbnb rep. We really enjoyed this and ensured her home was kept beautifully for not only ourselves but her guest. Libby was kind enough to let us drive her car which gave us the freedom we needed to explore Margaret River and it’s gorgeous surroundings. We would work the mornings and have afternoons to ourselves, Witchcliffe is a nice place to be with some quirky shops and a dam to enjoy (swimming, kayaks, etc…).

Florian was always keen to learn everything. He could be relied on, and we enjoyed having him. His skills were a lower star rating only because he is young and has so much yet to learn. Still, his maturity level was higher than his age, in so many ways. First morning after this funny young man was gone I said to Chance, “I miss Florian”.

Workaway hero. Not only brought lots of practical skills, but many social graces - really unobtrusively got the group to work. Tremendous to have somebody who could just be pointed at a job and be sure they could be left to do it - no greater compliment to be paid for a workawayer ! Felled trees, built steps and walls, split wood… and cooked, made people laugh, and did so many of the unsung jobs that need to be done. One of the very best.

A serious contributor - came early and brilliantly got the workawayers house into shape; welcomed newcomers; managed the budget; became house mother. Worked very hard, learnt fast, acquired new skills ( good on chainsaw maintenance for example…!), left early but voluntarily did extra work to make up for it. Highly recommended!!

Marinthe was a delight. Very organised, absolutely reliable and responsible, hardworking. She was completely engaged and involved, keen to learn, asked great questions, did more than was asked, looked for what needed to be done by herself. Central to the group and gave as much as she received. Lovely person - come back!

I have fallen behind badly in reviews and this should in no way reflect on how amazing Matilde is as a wonderful person and a total pleasure to host for workWays! She is now more like a member of our family as she stayed over the Christmas period and our whole extended family shared a very memorable fun time with this particular group. Matilde arrived in early December to help work on the farm and with horses without any previous experience and she very quickly picked up the day to day routine and proved to be a very reliable dependable and mature person to have around the place. Along with the others there was always great laughter and fun which in a dark winter day is a breath of fresh air on a muddy farm! Matilde learned to lunge ponies, began riding and showed great interest and bravery for a novice rider. She was fantastic with one small pony Fred (!) in particular keeping him lunging and exercised. She was very willing to help with all the other yard duties like feeding, mucking out, grooming, watering, some gardening etc and always with a big bright smile. On rainy days everyone embarked on some painting.... Having fun together... More than walls were painted! She is also a very talented artist and we cherish beautiful hand painted cards from her. Matilde is very sociable and friendly getting along very well with the others in the group (in fact making friends for life) and having a great sense of adventure to explore the surrounding areas at the weekend and free times. I cannot recommend her highly enough to any host, we were thrilled to have her stay for 5 weeks and a great surprise she returned to us for another 3 weeks after some travel in Ireland we had really missed her so it was great to have her 'home' again.!! We hope you will come again Matilde!

This was our first time hosting and we were a bit nervous for the experience. But it could not have been better! Chelsea is a very easygoing person and eager to learn and came with some good ideas while we were working on projects. We highly recomend hosting Chelsea on her continued journey :) Wish you all the best Chelsea and good luck with your next adventures.

I had an amazing time with Ollie and Nat, and their awesome kids. They were very welcoming and I got to learn so much about practical restoration work. They made sure I got to see all the best bits of Motueka, and took me to climb mountains, kayaking, and swimming at the beach. Ollie is very inspiring and has a wealth of knowledge about nature and Nat is an incredible zumba dancer and yoga teacher. It was a great atmosphere with the other volunteers too and we had some lovely evenings cooking and eating dinner together. It was a beautiful landscape as well, surrounded by lush forests, mountains, and an incredible view of the sunrise. My favourite place in New Zealand! :)

We spent a month and half at Shannon's place and we loved the place and their people. The house, with the lake just by is amazing, we loved ice fishing, riding the snowmobile and seeing all this northern lights! Shannon and Karl are 2 really kind persons, it was a pleasure to work, eat and spend good times with them. There is lot of different work to do, taking care of Pepper :), renovation, firewood, cleaning, dump... and Shannon is always here to teach us. We highly recommend Shannon's place, and if you are lucky you could even be here for the beer fest! We hope to come back for the event one day! Thanks again for everything

Joe was an absolute pleasure to have around. Nothing was too much trouble and he rolled with whatever was required. He did cook for us on a few evenings and it was great to have that done as it was not expected at all. I would highly recommend offering space at your project or home for Joe. He was very respectful of all our space and home.

I stayed one month on karens and chances goat farm in april and it was an amazing experience. After just one week it felt like a home, probably because they treat you like a part of the family. The work I had to do is completely fine and not too much at all. It was probably like 3,5h a day (and I didn't work fast) for me alone doing the work, but if there are other workawayers or chance helps (what he was doing often when I was alone) it can take just half the time. Also they are really flexible with your days off what was good as well. Also their daughter and her boyfriend helped me getting around in the yukon whith amazing experiences. All the farm animals are super cute and excited everytime they see you. The walks you can do around show the beautiful nature and the mountains there. I am definitely returning to the yukon and the farm and I can recommend it to everyone. Thanks for the time there!

Keidy stayed almost 5 months with us and she is welcome to come back anytime. She is very responsible and supported us in so many of our projects with the garden and the animals. She is truly passionate with plants, and our greenhouse improved a lot thanks to her. She is also a great musician and delighted us with her music. She is honest, sensitive, respectful and authentic.

We had the best time with Marta. She is an authentic, very interesting person with great experience. She is truly passionate about the garden and made a big difference in the greenhouse. She loves cooking and delighted us with many wonderful dishes. In our leisurely time, we had lots of fun with Marta as well. A wise soul. I cannot recommend her enough.
