Area: Manawatu-WanganuiWe are a family of three with a two year old son and have a large extended family in the local community so if you would like a taste of New Zealand family life we would love to have you. We live on a farm growing predominately wheat and maize but we also have some grazing livestock, chickens and a poodle. I run a small shop and design business and have way more ideas than time to complete them all. We are located in beautiful Opiki about 20km from Palmerston North(15-20 minutes). Opiki is less than 2 hours from Wellington and in close proximity to beaches, walk and cycle ways and many other of New Zealand's exciting recreational areas. We are happy to pick you up from Palmerston North if you don't have your own transport.
Area: Western CapeWe have recently retired to this stunning mountain retreat. Our vision is to build a series of Eco-campsites where people from the cities can come to get away from it all. Summer nights are especially beautiful with little light pollution to diminish the splendour of the Southern Milky Way. We have two largish telescopes which we will be setting up so those with an interest in Astronomy can experience and learn. Recently a fire swept the area, opening up what was thick "Fynbos" bush, exposing the rock structure and making a number of natural campsites obvious. We want to take advantage of this natural clearing and build informal shower and toilet facilities using the available natural materials. We really need some keen volunteer help to participate in this rewarding project, as two retired folk just cannot keep up with all the schemes they can't help inventing! Wildlife in the area includes Baboons, small Buck, Mongoose, Porcupine, Francolin and Guinea Fowl, Black Eagle and Gymnogene. There have even been a few sitings of Aardwolf, Lynx and Leopard recently. For those with an interest in botany, this coming winter and spring rainy season (April through October) will be fascinating, as many interesting species make their way through the burnt earth to pioneer the new undergrowth. You may even be able to identify a new hitherto unnamed variety!

I build my house of straw, wood frame, technical GREB (walls and roof were finished in February 2014) Actually I'm working inside. I'll become a farmer / organic baker. My life change comes from the birth of my son. On outgoing nature, I love to talk and share what I've learned. I like listening to hard rock, but I'm open to all music ;-) Je m'appelle Pierre, je suis marié à Céline et nous avons un enfant Vincent (né en 2008).
