Area: CataloniaI'm Eva, I live with my husband and my two doughters, who are ten and seven years old. We live in a big house in La Garriga, a town from about 15000 inhabitants near Barcelona, about 35 km. The train station is one minute from home, and you can take the train straight to Barcelona. My husband is now working away during the week and I work as a math teacher in a high school near La Garriga. I look after my daughters during the week and sometimes we need a babysitter, at the weekend we can stay together.
Area: Midi PyreneesWe, Cassandre and Yohan, are creating a place where live together the vegetal, the animal, the human, and others (in evolution). In a quite wild countryside, we are creating a permacultural orchard ; actually there is green manure crop. Trees will be planted in automn. We want the self-sufficiency for fruits and vegetables. This is also Yohan's professionnal activity. We are interested by permaculture, yoga, Qi gong, dynamisations (water, earth, ...)
Area:We are a family of four, Zeta, Mike, Yannis (9 years) and Athina (6 years), who live in the mountains in the Peloponnese region of Greece. Our small village, Bozika, has a population of less than 150 people, and is located 30 minutes from Kiato, the closest town. Kiato is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes southwest of Athens, and easily accessible by trains running either from the Athens airport of the city. We live our lives simply, as close as possible to the natural world, and we appreciate the richness that nature brings to our lives. Our family enjoys cooking and sharing traditional dishes from the Greek culture, and for the past three years we have been operating a small tavern/restaurant next to our house. In the restaurant, we serve food that we grow on our farm, including fruit, vegetables, pork, chicken, rabbit, turkey, cheese, honey and products we make from our olives! We are looking for volunteers who are motivated and interested in discovering the way of life on a family farm, and becoming part of our household. We are always excited to share our passions and knowledge. Zeta can teach you to cook delicious Greek food, and share her special culinary secrets and will show you how to cultivate a small organic farm, with plants, animals, and lots of passion!
Area: British ColumbiaWe are a ranch (some say a funny farm) in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. We have 200 acres on a lake and are surrounded on all sides by government owned forests open for recreation. Our dry, sunny climate makes for the privilege of a life lived mostly outdoors. We are 1hr flight or 6hrs drive north of Vancouver. We raise all natural, free-ranged, cows, pigs and goats. We also have chickens, ducks, horses and livestock dogs. We are happily married with 3 fun loving, active boys, 11 yrs and 6 yr old twins. We are travelers ourselves and home school our kids so we are always looking to both provide and accept opportunities for life experience and cultural diversity. Workaways are welcome year round for short or long term stays. We love to discuss and learn languages if you will teach us. We have had wonderful experiences with local and international visitors and would like to expand that part of our lives. Our focus is on providing an opportunity for someone to learn our way of life and for us to learn from you so individuals of all skill types are welcome although a reasonable level of physical fitness and good health are a must. Special knowledge and skills are not required but common sense and a good work ethic go a very long way.
Area: Missouri OzarksWe invite others to join us and build amazing art that share the secrets of life. You can do this on your own, with family & friends or with us on the Organic Art Farm: A 200+ acre piece of bliss that we have been endowed as the stewards of. We are currently in the process of transforming our surroundings into an amazing Organic Art Complex for all to enjoy! Some of our current group projects include: beautifying the property with interactive art, growing our own edibles in the organic garden & raised beds, making homemade wine, and construction of a stage & cabins! Our Big Focus right now is the Stage area - hoping to be completed by the Summer of 2014! We are currently working at getting electric & water lines ran to the stage field & finishing up the stage bathhouse. If these are projects you would like to help with then your welcome to join us! However please note that we are not interested in people simply looking for a place to crash for a few days - we are interested in cool individuals that want to help out and make this place even more awesome then it already is! Farm life is not all fun & games - although we do love both :) - we often spend all week doing things that simply have to be done in order to have fun on the weekends at the river, go to music shows, or take a group adventure! The property and environment is awesome here because we make it that way through team work! Workawayers that choose to explore with us might also enjoy collecting wild edibles, adventuring through the properties many treasures: caves, creeks, old 1800's barn, wildflower pastures, magical woods, swimming holes, cliffs, graveyard, old foundations and reminiscence of a European settled town.
