Area: AlmeriaEleven years ago my husband and I decided to leave the U K for Andalucia in Southern Spain. Here we bought eleven thousand square meters of land and had our ideal home built, just outside the small mountain village of Bedar. Since my husband's death, 5 years ago, I have continued to live in Spain as I have many friends here and I love the country, its people and the Winter climate.I often fly back to England and to Switzerland to visit my daughters and grandchildren and they enjoy coming here for their holidays, especially as I have a lovely swimming pool and they can go to the sea. Mojacar, the nearest coastal resort,is 20mins drive away and I have seaviews from my home. I was a secondary school English teacher before I took early retirement and I still do some private tuition when asked. I consider myself to be a young 60ish and I like to keep active by walking, playing golf and boules.I have also taken up new creative hobbies such as painting , pottery and photography. Gardening is one of my favourite pursuits, although with such a large area, I do have some help with this and always need more. Entertaining friends is another enjoyable and regular activity .I have a beautiful garden courtyard which is ideal for get-to-gethers . In the village I have friends from Spain, Germany, and France as well as U K and as I have travelled widely myself, I enjoy the mix of European cultures and languages.

Area:About us, we are a young couple that runs an Eco Tourism Hotel outside of Olmue (Chile), in the ecologically protected zone of Quebrada Alvarado. The hotel nicely combines nature with comfort, being surrounded by mountains and offering the following services for our guests: •Swimming pool •Sauna •Outside Jacuzzi •Tennis •Disco Nights •Restaurant – Bar •Game Nights •Karaoke Nights •Tracking expeditions •Yoga •Horse riding expeditions Olmue is located in the 5 region of Chile, in the center of the country and has a very nice climate (Warm in summer and not to cold in winter). Its located approximately 1 hour from Santiago (Our Capital), 40 minutes from Viña del Mar (Beach city) or 50 minutes from Valparaiso (was declared a World heritage a couple of years ago). We also have our own Beer Brewery, so if you are interested in the brewery process we could show you how it works and we have a lot of beer :) In your free time you can obviously use the installations of the Hotel (Swimming pool, sauna, Disco, etc) The restaurant of the hotel provides the alimentation service for our regular staff and you are welcome to join them and get to know them better. We will also provide a special kitchen for the workawayers where you can prepare your own meal or a snack when the restaurant is closed. You will need to take care of transportation to Chile (Santiago) and of getting an international insurance. Sometimes we can arrange a pick up at the airport, depending on the hour and date of your arrival. If we cannot pick you up, we will provide instructions on how to get to our Hotel by bus (not that hard) We are very flexible about the duration of your stay, since we need people for all the seasons. So if we get along fine, there is no problem with you staying here for a long time and if you just want to stay 1 months, that’s fine with us to. It´s also important that you have an outgoing personality, that you are fun to be with and that you are able to create a good mood, so that if there are only a few customers, they still have a good time at our hotel (There are also going to be other work and travelers… so it´s not just you, but it’s important that you as a team are able to accomplish this) We speak English, German and obviously Spanish (We have had people who don’t speak Spanish, and it’s no problem, but obviously it’s a bit easier to communicate with our regular staff if you do have some basic knowledge of the language).
Area: AsiaOur project is a big family - really big. My wife, Evelind Schecter, and I started Our project six years ago based on our experience as parents and foster parents in the US. We opened its doors in July 2008 and accepted its first 5 children in May 2009. Today, our Children's Homes care for 37 Hill Tribe children, our Annex is home to another 4, we have 21 more at two other schools and partner in two pre-schools in the mountains. Our Microenterprise Program works with four women's coops to produce fashion accessories that are now sold in Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Bali and around the world. And our Public Health Program provides free wheelchairs, visiting services and much more to the elderly and disabled in our district. But for all of that, we are still essentially a family living in a big, extended family compound with the Thai staff, their kids, our kids, and volunteers all swirling together in an exciting, ever changing mix. This is not a place for the faint of heart or for those in need of constant direction. This is a place for people who thrive in chaotic, complex situations, can define their own programs and make things happen. And, boy, do we make things happen: Academically, our kids totally outperform the district average; women in our coops are making money like never before; we are donating 4 or 5 wheelchairs a week to people who have not moved in a decade. This is also a place of interesting experimentation. Most of our buildings are constructed with mud or mud brick; we are developing biochar pyrolyser technology for use by local farmers; we are experimenting with new intercropping schemes to improve field productivity; we are designing new products for coops. And we are always looking for creative people to join in the fun.
