Area: Salt Spring Island, BC, CanadaWe are developing 5 acres on Salt Spring Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. We are building new garden areas and improving those that we started over the last 4 years. A lot of the work will be related to digging new areas, planting, mixing soil, etc. We are also requiring the assistance of a carpenter/builder as we have fences and gates to build and we are renovating certain areas of our buildings. We eat very healthy with a lot from our gardens. We are mostly vegetarian. We prefer to take in one worker at a time. We can offer very comfortable accommodations with internet. We have a full bath available in another building. We are a retired couple and have a lot of energy and plans. No children. We live in a very beautiful area near the ocean (5 minutes) and just above the best hiking trails on the island. There is a lot to do here on this island and Vancouver is very close and easy to get to. Most workers that have stayed with us have taken the time to visit Vancouver Island including Victoria, Tofino and other areas directly on the Pacific ocean.
Area: United States*UPDATE* I currently have a volunteer in the spare bedroom but he plans to move out August 1st or 15th. I am a Professional Counselor, Life Coach, and Consultant located in Columbia, Missouri. I have been developing a small urban homestead in the last year. I am experimenting sustainable living practices at my home to better teach others. My home is near downtown and I am very connected to this community. I prefer a volunteer who has a strong interest or some experience with sustainable practices. Permaculture enthusiast a bonus! I'm typically at the office 11ish to 7ish Mon-Thurs, like a quiet home by midnight at the latest and like to sleep in most days. Friday-Sunday I'm free to do bigger home projects. I have liberal views, conservative with resources, supportive in nature, and a hard work ethic. Whether it's with my counseling co-op or at home, I don't think in hierarchical terms with me as the boss but having an organizer role in a team effort. With that said, I'm highly invested in my time and space so I will assert my preferences. :)
Area: Midi PyreneesWe are a family of three, including a two-and-a-half-year-old little girl, living in a house in the very South of France, 5 minutes from a quaint historical little town in the Pyrenees. The house has a large garden and a couple pastures and is set in a very quiet area (a hamlet surrounded by pasture land) in the foothills of the Pyrenees (40 minutes from ski resorts and 2 hours from the sea). We are francophones and I am an English teacher at the local high school. I've visited 22 countries and lived in the UK and Canada. When I was a child, we used to host foreign students who wanted to learn French and I loved the experience. We are very "Nature"-oriented, eat organic food, and have a vegetable garden as well as some fruit trees.
Area: AucklandHi We are both teachers both full and part time. We have a family although all have now moved away. We socialise often with friends and family. We are both learning to play the ukulele. We enjoy the outdoors often and one of us is a keen swimmer.
Area: CenterWho are we and what is our project all about ? We are Sonja and Joos, and we have a little daughter, Minne, aged 4 years. We are ordinary people who are looking for a pleasant way to make a living off, a new home, a place where our heart is and where we can be happy and at the same time offer other people a relaxed and nice time in between their stressful, hectic everyday life. This we want to achieve by transforming the cave of gnomes, in a real “cave of gnomes”. We want to invite you to explore our site and hope to meet you in the future when you continue your exploration here in a beautiful piece of nature. Joos, Sonja and Minne.
