We are an Italian couple, Cecilia and Francesco, with a 2 year old son, who first came to Ecuador in 2006. We have lived in this beautiful country for over 5 years now.
Cecilia is a sociologist with a master in gender studies while Francesco has a PhD in Physics. We worked on international cooperation and environmental research and now we started this beautiful project of building a house for us made cob and bamboo.
We fell in love with nature, jungle, spirits and culture of Ecuador and its people, its sunsets, its climate, its power, and we felt that here we could make our dream of living in a self-sustainable way real, caring for the earth and our lives.
A few months ago we bought a plot of land on the slopes of the volcano Ilaló in the valley of Tumbaco, half hour from the city of Quito. It is a beautiful place, still quite rural but close to everything you need. The land has approximately 3000mq and a nice view Ilaló at Tumbaco valley and the volcano of Quito, Pichincha.
Here we will build our house, capturing rainwater, recycling water from sinks, using composting toilets, and in future we hope to take energy from the sun.
Our project is a beautiful Peruvian Pacific coast ecological, artistic community founded on Vaisnava principles, strategically located on a beach, in the district of Aucallama, in the province of Huaral, one hour by bus or car (63 km) north of the capital city, Lima.
We live together according to principles of non-violence, simple living and elevated thinking, and visitors can learn and experience how it is possible to live happily in harmony with nature, others, and themselves. We are looking for people that are basically open-minded and want to practice tolerance, compassion and patience.

Olmue is located in the 5 region of Chile, in the center of the country and has a very nice climate (Warm in summer and not to cold in winter). Its located approximately 1 hour from Santiago (Our Capital), 40 minutes from Viña del Mar (Beach city) or 50 minutes from Valparaiso (was declared a World heritage a couple of years ago).
We also have our own Beer Brewery, so if you are interested in the brewery process we could show you how it works and we have a lot of beer :)
In your free time you can obviously use the installations of the Hotel (Swimming pool, sauna, Disco, etc)
The restaurant of the hotel provides the alimentation service for our regular staff and you are welcome to join them and get to know them better. We will also provide a special kitchen for the workawayers where you can prepare your own meal or a snack when the restaurant is closed.
You will need to take care of transportation to Chile (Santiago) and of getting an international insurance. Sometimes we can arrange a pick up at the airport, depending on the hour and date of your arrival. If we cannot pick you up, we will provide instructions on how to get to our Hotel by bus (not that hard)
We are very flexible about the duration of your stay, since we need people for all the seasons. So if we get along fine, there is no problem with you staying here for a long time and if you just want to stay 1 months, that’s fine with us to.
It´s also important that you have an outgoing personality, that you are fun to be with and that you are able to create a good mood, so that if there are only a few customers, they still have a good time at our hotel (There are also going to be other work and travelers… so it´s not just you, but it’s important that you as a team are able to accomplish this)
We speak English, German and obviously Spanish (We have had people who don’t speak Spanish, and it’s no problem, but obviously it’s a bit easier to communicate with our regular staff if you do have some basic knowledge of the language).
Our goal is to encourage interaction between different cultures, to expand language skills, and to create a vibrant community between English and Spanish speakers in Puerto Lopez.
Puerto Lopez, a quiet fishing town, with an international tourist crowd. Our place is a beautiful property, right on the beach. The open air café seats about 20 people, facing the ocean. Tutoring takes place in the patio classroom above, and is equipped with a map, computer and language teaching resources. Spanish learners are generally visitors, studying Spanish while on vacation (1 week to 8 weeks.) English-learners are generally residents of Puerto Lopez.
