Hello and thanks for your interest, but our spaces have been filled for the 2013 season. However, if you are interested for the fall of 2013 (September - November), we may have spaces. Shanti Retreat Our retreat is an oasis of peace; a sanctuary where guests can pause, reflect, and connect in community with kindred spirits. As well as a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere provides guests with the inspiration to delve deeper into the gift of yoga and the possibilities for transformation and growth. To support our mission we are looking for volunteers to live and volunteer.

Area: British Columbia

We are a ranch (some say a funny farm) in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. We have 200 acres on a lake and are surrounded on all sides by government owned forests open for recreation. We are 1hr flight or 6hrs drive north of Vancouver. We raise all natural, free-ranged cows, pigs and goats. We also have chickens, ducks, turkeys, horses and livestock dogs. We are a younger couple, happily married with 3 fun loving, active boys, 10 yrs and 5 yr old twins. We are travelers ourselves and home school our kids so we are always looking to both provide and accept opportunities for life experience and cultural diversity. Workaways are welcome year round for short or long term stays. We have had wonderful experiences with local and international visitors and would like to expand that part of our lives. Our focus is on providing an opportunity for someone to learn our way of life and for us to learn from you so individuals of all skill types are welcome.

Area: British Columbia

We are looking for another helper or 2 with at least a little basic construction-type experience that can help with some of the heavier work, ie fencing & construction etc.! If you're worried about it being cold here, it doesn't usually get too cold in this part of Canada, & usually not much snow! (Very similar weather to Germany & England) . We are primarily racehorse breeders, we have around 10 horses right now, along with 3 tiny kids ponies, but we also raise grass fed beef, & have a couple of Jersey cows (for milk), some goats (we milk one occasionally to make goat cheese ), sheep, a llama (guards the sheep), chickens, ducks, turkeys & geese along with peacocks, guinea fowl, some barn cats, a (quiet) gentle dog (Blue Heeler) & 2 parrots. All spring & summer we have the incubator going, hatching out peacocks, turkeys & guinea fowl. All animals are kept outside except for the parrots. One of the parrots keeps everybody laughing with her comments & does an amazing array of tricks, animal imitations, laughing & also sings. We also have (a few) of our own (organic) fruit & nut trees, including apple, cherry, crabapple, plum, pear, nectarine, apricot, fig, hazelnut & walnut trees, along with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, saskatoons, black currants, lots of rhubarb as well as some vegetables. We are located in Langley, B.C., 1 hour from both downtown Vancouver or the nearest skiing mountain (Grouse Mountain), (or about 3 hours to Whistler), 20 minutes to the nearest beach, and we're 1 mile up from the U.S. border. We are quiet, (non drinkers & non partiers) considerate & very respectful of others privacy & hopefully you are as well!! We are reasonable people, & enjoy humor. We aren't health food fanatics, but we like to eat good-tasting food, preferably without any chemicals etc. We do eat quite healthy, and homemade bread & jams are always available. Our hobbies include dancing (country & western, latin, swing & ballroom), restoring vintage cars (we have a few), traveling, gardening (Debbi loves LOTS of flowers!!!) cooking (and eating!) & enjoy having pot luck barbecues & barn dances here during the summer & fall, & we love farming! You must be (as we are,) honest, dependable, reasonably clean and mentally stable, (no (unmedicated) bipolar or anger management issues please!) & NO DRUGS, heavy drinkers, or smoking!!! A great sense of humor is a definite asset!

Our family lives in the beautiful town of Olds, Alberta. It is almost 1 hour north of Calgary. Our family consists of Myself, Rosemary, my husband Gerald and our children Mitchell (21), Lance (19), Chelsea (17), Spencer (15) and Bryce (13). We have an exchange student from Mexico staying with us and attending high school. From September until June I, Rosemary, operate an Organic and Natural Store and Food Buying Club in our home. We need someone to help with the store, yard work and/or cooking/housework. The Rocky Mountains are just over an hour away and the skiing is lovely there. For July and August, we travel to the province of Manitoba where we have an organic farm. We will need help on the farm with haying, grain production, animal care, gardening and or cooking and cleaning. We like to go to a beach that is close by in the summer to cool off and relax after our days's work or on the weekends.

On 480 acres of beautiful rolling hills, meadows, and forests, our ranch is a oasis for Horse Lovers located close to Tees, Alberta, Canada! Enjoy our facilities including: -A indoor arena with soft mixed footing and clay based keep dust free with natural additives. -Outdoor arena with a view across the country. Evening lighting to enjoy moonlight riding. -Round pen with shavings mixed footing. - Vast Horse Play Field with many obstacles such as varying sizes of cross country jumps, trail obstacles with bridges and gates, ramps and poles, etc. and ever expanding and growing. -12 wood indoor box stalls, rail paddocks and turnout pens with shelters and automatic waters, and large fields for horses to be horses! -And of course, the perfect nature with the trails over the land. We have around 40 amazing horses at our Ranch. I, Alicia, bring outside horses in for training, board horses, find new homes for established horses, have natural horsemanship events and clinics, and a professional horse connection coach. Along with all the horses as family, Bill is also a family member on the Ranch and our cats and dogs too. We would love to welcome you also to join our family and team!
