Hello!
I am currently travelling through South East Asia with my boyfriend Jack. I have preciously done Workaways either with friends or by myself and now we are looking to find volunteering together.
This profile is mainly written about me as used for volunteering solo but if you would like to know more about Jack then please ask!
About me:
I have creative skills as a freelance illustrator and experience working with children
About Jack:
Currently on sabbatical from his role in a school supporting behaviour & well-being of children with learning disabilities. He is DBS a checked & First Aid trained. He is has many skills/qualities including: problem solving, empathy and ideas generation.
I believe I am an enthusiastic individual always happy to get stuck in with things and work as part of a team. Working outside and using body (no body builder but strong enough!) is something I would really like to be part of my Workaway experience as well as being creative and working with children.
Previous Workaway experiences include:
~ Prop making for children’s puppet show: Perpignan France (2017)
~ Permaculture project and youth workshops: Ecuador (2019)
~ Teaching English to children: Ecuador (2019)
~Teaching English & childcare with Vietnamese family in Hanoi (Jan 2024) *
~Giving English tours & mural painting: Kampot Pepper farm in Cambodia (March 2024) *
*Awaiting feedback
I’ve really enjoyed my previous Workaway experiences! Each one gave me a whole range of different and unique skills including: keeping a 3 year old entertained (whilst not sharing the same language), learning how to make compost from human waste, preparing for an Ecuadorean religious festival and how to dance Cumbia!
I did my previous Workways (France & Ecuador) with a friend (the reviews are on their account which is currently offline) but if you look in my photos you can see what I got up to! The more recent two I did this year I am waiting for feedback.
My area of particular expertise/interest is anything creative! I have experience in painting murals, creating illustrated promotional materials and collaborative community projects. I also have lots of experience working with children, through running creative workshops and childminding (+6 years experience) and I am DBS checked. I am vegetarian but happy to cook/buy my own food if needed.
A few things which I value/feel are important:
- Caring for and appreciating our environment
- Caring for all beings
- Working together to combine the strengths of individuals
- Building a sense of community

I learnt a lot (of course) about pepper and enjoyed giving the tours and meeting fellow travellers. Chris also gave me the opportunity to paint a mural at the farm which was a lot of fun! He is very open to ideas especially creative ones so it’s a great place to utilise all types of skills.

Initially it was not what I expected, as from reading the profile I had thought I would be working with more children. But then realised this was the info for the Summer camp so not relevant to when I was visiting in Jan!
Despite this, I really enjoyed my time… read more
