Description

Hi, I'm Tobias! I’m a friendly, adventurous 24 year old, recent college grad from Los Angeles, California. For the past year I’ve been working as a production assistant on film sets, but while I enjoyed the jobs, I’ve come to realize that what’s important to me is to find work where I can make a positive contribution to the planet. I love connecting with people and seeing the world through their eyes, and I’m eager to learn new skills and see new places. For a while I worked as a house painter and enjoyed the physical labor and sense of accomplishment after a hard day’s work. What makes me happiest? Being around genuine, unpretentious people; spending time with animals; playing my guitar; being in nature – hiking, scuba-diving. It’s very important for me to push myself out of my comfort zone, hard as it can be sometimes. My goal is to find my own path, whatever and wherever it may be. At present, I sense that my path lies outside the highly urban environment of Los Angeles.

Some other things about me: I don’t have a Facebook, Instagram, twitter, or Tik Tok account; just never been into social media, but don’t judge others who are. I love music and (in my opinion) have a broad palate. I like hip hop, jazz, bossa nova, classic rock, R&B, funk, etc. I like reading and am currently half-way into Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I love animals and spent several years volunteering with a dog rescue organization (and adopted JayJay, an adorable chihuahua). I think I’m a good listener, at least that’s what people tell me.

As far as travel experience, I’m just finishing my first workaway in rural Spain aiding a wildlife sanctuary and it's been a blast! trip so far. Additionaly, I've worked Belize, removing lionfish from coral reefs, as they’re an invasive species that damages the ecosystem. I also spent some time in Houston, Texas, cleaning up after hurricane Harvey devastated the area. My hope is to find a Workaway trip where I can make a little corner of the world a better place, no matter how small my contribution might be.
