Hello! My name is Sarah. I am from Washington State, which is full of natural beauty, like tall trees and snow-capped mountains. I’m new to Workaway, but not new to traveling. Over the years, I’ve been to several countries including Germany, Mexico, China, the Dominican Republic, Tanzania, and the UK.

I graduated from college two years ago, where I studied two of my favorite things: sustainable agriculture, and music. I’m passionate about stewarding the land and growing healthy food from healthy soil. I have some background and experience in both gardening and managing livestock, but I’m eager to gain more experience during my Workaway adventure. A special hope that I have is to learn how to take care of and ride horses.

It’s been my dream for the past few years to go to Ireland and learn more about sustainable farming there. I have also loved traditional Irish music for years, especially as a violin player who got to learn some Irish and Scottish fiddle tunes growing up. I'm currently in Ireland and will be here until late May.

I enjoy going on walks, whether that’s by myself where I can think and pray and admire the beauty around me, or alongside someone else whom I can chat with or just be with. I also love reading books, drinking tea, playing board or card games, eating good food, and having great conversations, whether they are philosophical or just plain silly.

I'm open to both helping someone improve their English and also to learning other languages myself. I know a little bit of Spanish and an even smaller bit of German. I'd also be interested in learning Irish.

Gardening: I have experience in farming, mostly with veggies and gardening. I have worked at a couple organic vegetable farms and volunteered in community gardens. I have been gardening at our own family farm this past year. I also have some experience with managing sales at farmstands.

Working with animals: I have worked with livestock before, including alpacas (though it's been a long time!) and poultry (chickens, turkeys, etc.)

Working with kids: I have done tutoring, teaching, and childcare for a variety of different ages of children, from kindergarten through around 5th grade.

Cleaning: I used to work as a house cleaner for a professional cleaning company, and I learned some neat cleaning hacks from that experience, like the secret to removing the hard water ring in toilet bowls, without the use of harsh chemicals!

Music: I play(ed) the violin. I unfortunately don't play very much anymore, so I'm a bit rusty, but I still consider myself a violinist at heart!

I know some fun fast-paced card games and I enjoy playing longer games, like Dominion and Catan, and word games, like Boggle.
