Description
Hey! We're Rumit + Komal and have been close friends since as long as we can remember.
We're starting a trip around South East Asia, with the intentions to explore, travel, learn about other cultures, volunteer and spend time away from our day to day working lives!
We're passionate about volunteering, having both spend a couple of weeks teaching at a school in a rural village in India as well as at an eye hospital.
Teaching is both of our passions - specifically English and maths at any age.
We approach every experience with an open heart and a willingness to contribute positively to the communities we visit-whether it's helping out with daily tasks, sharing knowledge, or exchanging skills.Interests

Both of us have a passion for teaching as mentioned above, which was nurtured during experiences in India for us both as well as Kenya for Rumit. We're keen to learn too!
During our time in India, we came up with lesson plans and taught students ranging from 4-16, with completely different levels of language barriers as well as learning abilities. We spent time teaching about the importance of hygiene, helped identify potential students with learning disabilities and taught basic meditation/yoga techniques to help
We're also both involved members of our local community, and have ran dementia workshops for the elderly people of our community as well as hosted and planned large-scale events in our area. We ensure we give time away from our professional jobs to charitable causes, including homeless drives.
Komal is a renewable energy consultant by profession and is genuinely excited by all things sustainability and net zero. As a consultant & with a master's degree in chemical engineering she loves coming up with creative solutions to complex problems, whether it's business strategy, engineering challenges, personal troubles, etc..
She has babysitting, music theory/piano teaching, maths, and English tutoring experience with a range of ages.
I particularly love working with young children!
Rumit is a software developer aiming to learn lots of new skills with the hopes of one day starting a company centered around online learning. Having ping-ponged throughout my education and career doing various things in chem engineering, computer science, and finance; I have experienced so much and know that there is so much more to see in different countries, cultures, and people.
I’ve had experience teaching in schools and generally get on quite well with children and pets. I am super competitive and always love a challenge – love playing cards & board games as well as sports (albeit quite badly)Age

What else ...
Komal is taking time off work to experience a 2 in one journey to travel and explore my passion for teaching! I'd love to work with NGOs and provide input to help with their strategies.
I love all sports, specifically surfing + volleyball! Music is something important to me, whether it's playing the piano or listening to old Bollywood songs or the latest RnB tracks. Im always keen for a dance & having a good time
Rumit – As I’ve been working since I graduated, I really wanted to take some time for myself and witness all that life has to offer and make the most of my newfound freedom and more importantly – good weather!
I’m a massive book nerd – all things from fantasy to non-fiction. This is why I can’t think of anything better than lying on a beach and getting absolutely lost in a good story. Conversely, I am also a bit of an adrenaline junkie and love the thrill of climbing and cliff diving. Some more information

My two weeks here here have been filled with so much laughter, eye-opening experiences and plenty of joy. I am so grateful to have had this experience and could not recommend it more to anyone that is interested.
