Description

Background:
I am originally from England but have lived and worked abroad, mainly in Europe. I studied Art, Design and Photography at college and have a passion for playing guitar. My travels include Scandinavia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North/South America and North Africa. Ever since I was a young boy I have enjoyed visiting different countries and learning about their cultures. When I was 5 years old I hitch-hiked across the Sahara desert with my parents!
My father was in the building trade so I am quite practical. Having spent my childhood in the countryside, I know how to chop wood and tidy the garden. I am a qualified Art and EFL teacher and have taught in many independent schools and regularly prepare graduates for Master's courses at Cardiff University. I have also worked in the tourist/entertainment sector.
Volunteer:
Regarding Workaway .. I have worked in various places in Italy from Piacenza to Mount Etna in Sicily. I have worked in Art studios, in BnBs (cleaning pools etc!), with families in private homes and also in agro-tourism. I am a former WWOOFER (Willing Workers On Organic Farms). I Volunteered on a farm and a small bird reserve in the French Pyrenees. My jobs included some animal welfare, habitat maintenance and help with the cheese making! I have also worked for Camp America & BUNAC.
Interests:
Anything artistic, musical and creative. Foreign culture, history and different lifestyles. Nature, ecology and conservation issues are topics I take an interest in.
I like animals. My family used to have a parrrot, a goat and some chickens.
Character:
Smiley, cheerful, friendly and with a sense of humour. You can rely on me, I'm flexible and take pride in what I do. Trust, honesty and respect are important to me and I'm open to new ideas/challenges. I'm also a clean, tidy person who is not afraid of housework. And I can cook!

What else ...

I am an older guy but with a young outlook! I keep myself fit and in good shape. I enjoy the outdoors and walking in the countryside. A few summers ago I went canoeing down the Ardeche and when I lived and worked in Switzerland/France I used to go snowboarding in the Alps.
