Description

Hi! My name is Max and I am 25 years old. I am a qualified teacher overseas but I am currently taking a break from teaching until Autumn next year. My goal for the next year is to have the ultimate work away adventure, meeting fascinating people from around the world who will help me become a better version of myself. I hopefully have the same affect on those that I encounter on my travels. When I return to teaching next year I hope to utilise the experiences and skills that I have learnt to the best of my ability.

As a teacher it would be great to do some volunteering to build up my experience but I am particularly more interested in doing hostel work. I was very fortunate to spend the last three months working in a hostel in Prague, which was no doubt a captivating experience. I met hundreds if not thousands of eager travellers like myself who all had a part to play in this experience. I then had the pleasure of travelling around the Balkans for three weeks after my time in Prague. I wish to build on these experiences and do more hostel work in the upcoming months.

Some of my favourite things to do are reading, writing, music and photography. And of course travelling. I have done a few solo trips around Europe and America. In my year of I want to visit new places and meet new people who will help me grow as a person. What motivates me the most is being able to help others in exchange for learning and having new experiences. There is so much we can learn of each other and it is our duty as human beings to help each other and more importantly learn as much as we can from our experiences with one another.

As mentioned previously I am currently taking a break from teaching English overseas, so my skills mainly revolve around tutoring and helping others. Being a teacher requires a lot of patience and adaptability, especially when working with children who who speak little to no English. Being a teacher also allows you to successfully manage your time which is crucial for any work away employment,

Before I was a qualified teacher, I did some volunteering teaching in countries such as France, Italy and Poland. I have also been an online tutor too. I can help with English practice in all ages and I am interested in doing a language exchange too.

I am also very sporty, with tennis being my favourite. However, in my spare time because of the poor weather in England I spend a lot of time indoors playing chess. When the weather is good (which is rare) I spend time gardening with my grandad. I have been doing this from the age of five.

I am looking to gain new skills and experience through this exchange. As well as demonstrate my skills if required.

Although my experience is mostly around teaching and hospitality, I do believe that I have a ton of skills to offer and a willingness to try new things. Both of these combined make me a very approachable workawayer.

Most importantly I want to help people as much as I can and have experiences that will I cherish for a lifetime.
