Description
I grew up in a small village in the Istria region of Croatia and moved to the capital city, Zagreb, at the age of 18. Throughout my life I have worked on various jobs with a lot of different people and gathered all kinds of experiences. I worked as a plumber, firefighter and as an IT specialist in a credit card company among many other small jobs. Each job was completely different from the previous one, and each was interesting in its own way. Working with people of different ages, nationalities and education levels I learned to look at everything from many different perspectives and accept different worldviews no matter how strange they seemed at first.
My main driving force in life is a sense of discovery. Whether it's through traveling, learning a new job, trying a new hobby or simply by reading a book and watching documentaries about fascinating topics, I love the feeling of uncovering something new and unknown. The most common topics I'm interested in are those that help me better understand the world around me, like history, nature, technology, economy, psychology, human and animal behavior, city planning etc.
I am particularly passionate about outdoor activities such as climbing and hiking, as well as the projects I've started on my piece of land in Istria. I have designated half of the land as a natural forest and use the other half for growing olives, fruit, and a small garden. I enjoy watching how the forest develops over the years and maintaining the other half. I also like just spending time in nature, trying to spot wildlife or searching for old growth forests in various areas I visit. As well as nature, I really enjoy exploring cities, especially walkable cities where I can just stroll through the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of the city.
I try to make some big changes in my life every few years, just to make it more interesting, so last year I quit my job and decided to travel to the northern regions of Europe. When I travel I often try to experience places from a perspective of a local and Workaway gave me the opportunity to do so in a really cool way, by staying longer in certain places and at the same time trying out new interesting jobs. Currently I'm exploring the arctic regions of Norway and the way of life here.Interests

For the past five years, I have been working in the IT industry. However, I have some experience in construction and renovation as well, I am particularly skilled in plumbing but also have some experience in electrical installations, masonry, and carpentry.
Seventeen years ago, my grandfather and I planted seventy olive trees, as well as a small orchard and garden. Since then I've been taking care of that, so I have some knowledge of orchard maintenance and gardening though I would like to learn more about that.
I often assist my family by taking care of apartments for tourists. This includes cleaning the interior and exterior of the house, check-in procedures, and helping guests with any needs they may have.
I worked a little bit with animals on my workaways. Three months with horses, taking them out of the stable, cleaning stables and putting clothes on them. I also worked three months with sled dogs during the winter, giving them food, cleaning their yard and boxes and taking dog teams out, sometimes even on my own.
I have also volunteered as an assistant at alpine climbing courses and can teach you about rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering techniques, moving safely in challenging terrain, and the basics of mountain rescue.
I also worked as a firefighter, but I hope no one will need my skills from that job :DAge
