Description
Hello! :) We are old friends from childhood and a couple from Slovenia. :) Would describe ourselves as adventurous people, travel lovers and especially nature lovers. Our home village is located in unspoilt and diverse landscape, unburdened with industry, surrounded with green hills of forests, meadows and vinyards, so there are good possibilities to spend a lot of time outside and live as connected to the nature as possible. We enjoy all the work outdoors (in gardens, orchards, vinyards, forests, building etc.) - especially Boštjan and want to also improve the knowledge and skills we have. We love general exploring, hiking, cycling, also some sports like basketball, volleyball, skiing, swimming ... We both love constant learning about the functioning of nature/universe and the sensible way of humans life style as sensitive and sufficient part of the natural circle. At home we are self-sufficient from out field and for survival we usually don't visit shops. We grow food for ourselves (or buy at local organic farms) and pick wild. We eat mostly local (and vegan - Karmen).
Karmen is a profesor of sociology and geography (with emphasis on biogeography, phytogeography), forager, herbalist, wild food teacher that leads foraging courses around Slovenia and world and loves to share precious knowledge of edible, medicinal and also so called toxic plants. Boštjan is at the moment still a worker in construction - erecting scaffolding in Slovenia; but his bigger passion is to work in the nature. Has his own little organic vineyard; we do wine and spirits; his new project with the friends is making slovenian ''cognac''. We have also fruit trees - we do apple juice and cider from these old indigenous apple varieties. Boštjan is very skilled guy, able to do anything he starts, with peace and little words. :) He has a lot of hobbies - basketball, sailing ... Together, we are also a good combination in the kitchen. In general, we are open to all sorts of things that life is offering. We are usually easy to adapt to needs of others.
Normally our travel practice is hitchhiking - to save planet from additional pollution. to get special experience and to save money,
Karmen also likes art (making music - singer; little playing guitar, theatre performing, and we both are fans of old - retro things, recycling ...
Karmen has already participated in Workaway and got a lot of volunteer experiences in Turkey, Georgia and Armenia. She worked at a Backpackers hostel in Bodrum, in a hostel in Tbilisi, in a family hotel in Bartin, in a circus school for refugee and local youth in Mardin, on a farm with animals and fruit trees in Mersin, on a horse ranch in Cappadocia, in a small orchard and herb farm close to Ankara and on an organic farm near the Black sea. In our last hitchiking travel (with Boštjan) we got opportunity to work together in yachting: swiss motor yacht - start in Gibraltar, sailing to Canary Islands and back to Portugal. They both worked also all over Great Britain on planty different places - farms, homes etc.

All in first and third chapter. In addition: Boštjan is finishing study of Mechanical Engineering and has a lot of experience in placing scaffolding, building, any outdoors/indoors! He is also skillful with the fishing rod. Karmen is a teacher of Geography and Sociology, passionate (wild) plants lover, forager. Both developing permacultural knowledge, and using it in our projects.
