My name is Joel Imhof. I'm 24 years old and work as a teacher (science, history and geography) in the city of Bern while finishing my studies at PH Bern. Growing up on a farm in a small village in the Canton of Bern connecting with nature has always been an important part in my life.
Things I do like:
- all kind of outdoor sports, especially climbing, hiking and gravel biking.
- Observing animals and plants as well as just being outside in the nature.
- Learning new skills (at the moment juggling and handstands).
- Languages
- Cooking - even though i'm still learning ;)
- Thinking about the different ways of education
Things that are important to me:
- kindness and empathy
- tolerance
Things I dream about doing in the future:
- participation in a triathlon
- bike packing in scandinavia
- observing the polar lights
- having my own garden
- outdoor swimming every day for a year
I'm open minded, uncomplicated and commuicative and I love to talk about all kinds of topics. Workaway seems like the perfect way to experience a cultural exchange and to be part of a global community.

Mein Name ist Joel Imhof. Ich bin 24 Jahre alt und arbeite als Lehrer in der Stadt Bern während ich mein Studium an der PH Bern noch beende. Aufgewachsen auf einem Bauernhof in einem kleinen Dorf auf dem Land in Bern, die Natur war für mich schon immer von grosser Bedeutung.
Sachen, die ich mag:
- Outdoor-Sportarten: Vor allem klettern, wandern und Velo fahren.
- In der Natur sein und Pflanzen und Tiere beobachten.
- Neue Sachen lernen (im Moment jonglieren und den Handstand).
- Sprachen
- Kochen - bin immer noch fleissig am üben ;)
- Über verschiedene Bildungsformen und pädagogische Strömungen nachdenken.
Sachen, die mir wichtig sind:
- Freundlichkeit und Empathie
- Toleranz
Sachen, wovon ich in Zukunft träume:
- bei einem Triathlon mitmachen
-Durch Skandinavien mit dem Velo reisen
- Die Polarlichter beobachten
- einen eigenen Garten haben
- Für ein Jahr lang jeden Tag draussen kurz schwimmen
Ich bin eine offene und unkomplizierte Person. Mit mir kann man gut sprechen und ich interessiere mich für diverse Themen. Workaway scheint mir perfekt, für einen kulturellen Austausch innerhalb einer globalen Community zu sein.

Je m'appelle Joel Imhof. J'ai 24 ans et je travaille comme enseignant en ville de Berne tout en terminant mes études à la HEP. Ayant grandi dans une ferme d'un petit village bernoise, la nature a toujours eu une grande importance pour moi.
Des choses que j'aime :
- Les sports de plein air : surtout l'escalade, la randonnée et faire le vélo.
- Être dans la nature et observer les plantes et les animaux.
- Apprendre de nouvelles choses (en ce moment, jongler et faire le poirier).
- Les langues
- Cuisiner - je m'entraîne toujours ;)
- Réfléchir aux différentes formes d'éducation.

Choses dont je rêve à l'avenir :
- participer à un triathlon

Je suis une personne ouverte et facile à vivre. On peut facilement parler avec moi et je m'intéresse à divers sujets. Workaway me semble parfait pour un échange culturel au sein d'une communauté mondiale.

As a teacher I work a lot with children age 11-15. Communication, empathy, cooperation and school subjects are my daily business. Besides my experience as a teacher I learnt a lot growing up on a farm. I like to work outside and also physically demanding work is no problem for me. And as I already mentioned; I'm very open to learning new skills.
DE: Als Lehrperson arbeite ich täglich mit Jugendlichen zwischen 11 und 15 Jahren. Kommunikation, Empathie, Kooperation und Schulfächer gehören für mich zum Alltag. Daneben habe ich mir viele Fähigkeiten dadurch angeeignet, dass ich auf einem Bauernhof aufgewachsen bin. Wie ich bereits erwähnt habe, bin ich ebenfalls sehr offen, neue Erfahrungen zu sammeln und Fähigkeiten zu lernen.

En tant qu'enseignant, je travaille quotidiennement avec des jeunes de 11 à 15 ans. La communication, l'empathie, la coopération et les matières scolaires font partie de mon quotidien. En outre, j'ai acquis de nombreuses compétences en grandissant sur une ferme. Comme je ai déjà mentionné, je suis également très ouvert à apprendre de nouvelles expériences et compétences.
