  • Description

I believe that life is an incredible journey filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. What motivates me and brings me happiness can be summed up in a few key principles:

Cultural Exchange: One of my biggest motivations for joining Workaway is the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures. I find immense joy in learning about new traditions, languages, and ways of life. Building cross-cultural connections and gaining a deeper understanding of the world is incredibly fulfilling for me.

Personal Growth: I am a firm believer in the idea that every experience, especially those outside of our comfort zones, can contribute to personal growth. Whether it's learning a new skill, overcoming challenges, or simply adapting to a different environment, I am motivated by the chance to become a better version of myself through these experiences.

Community and Relationships: Building meaningful connections with people from all walks of life is a source of great happiness for me. I thrive on the camaraderie and friendships that often develop during Workaway experiences. I look forward to contributing positively to the communities I join and forming lasting bonds with both hosts and fellow Workawayers.

Nature and Sustainability: I have a deep appreciation for nature and the environment. Being in natural settings, whether it's working on an eco-friendly project or simply enjoying the beauty of the outdoors, brings me a sense of peace and contentment. I'm committed to sustainable living and hope to engage in projects that promote environmental responsibility.

Sharing and Giving Back: I believe in the importance of giving back to the communities and hosts that welcome me. Whether it's through volunteering, sharing knowledge, or helping with tasks, I take great satisfaction in contributing my skills and efforts to make a positive impact.

In summary, I'm excited to embark on this Workaway adventure because it aligns with my values of cultural exchange, personal growth, community building, sustainability, and giving back. I look forward to sharing these motivations with all of you and creating memorable experiences together.

More details about my language interests
I am not only passionate about contributing to the communities I join but also dedicated to the idea that language is a powerful bridge to understanding and connecting with different cultures. My background in social anthropology, with a focus on Swahili, reflects my deep interest in learning about culture through languages. Language Enthusiast: I have always been captivated by the rich tapestry of cultures around the world, and I believe that language is a key to unlocking the beauty and depth of each culture. I am genuinely enthusiastic about learning new languages and exploring the nuances of communication that reveal the essence of a society. Swahili and French Proficiency: I am proud to say that I have achieved an intermediate level of proficiency in both Swahili and French. These languages have not only opened doors to meaningful connections but have also allowed me to immerse myself in diverse cultural experiences. My ability to speak Swahili and French at an intermediate level enables me to engage in meaningful conversations, understand local customs, and bridge the gap between languages and cultures. Teaching Languages: Furthermore, I am eager to share my language knowledge and skills with others. Teaching languages is not just about imparting grammar and vocabulary; it's about fostering a deeper appreciation for culture, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and building connections. Whether it's assisting with language lessons or facilitating language exchange activities, I am excited to contribute to the language-learning journey of both hosts and fellow Workawayers. In summary, my passion for learning about culture through languages, coupled with my proficiency in Swahili and French, positions me as a valuable asset for language-related projects and activities. Hello Hosts,

I bring a diverse range of skills, experiences, and abilities to the Workaway community, which I believe can be valuable in various host settings. Here's a brief overview of my background:

During my time working for a mental health charity as a Flexible Support Worker, I had the privilege of working closely with individuals in the community who were struggling with long-term mental illnesses. My responsibilities included providing vital support to aid in their recovery. I was involved in offering emergency shelter and assisting individuals going through mental health crises by ensuring they received the necessary care and benefits. In challenging and high-pressure situations, I successfully negotiated services to ensure that those in need received the adequate care and support they were entitled to.

Furthermore, I have volunteered for multiple weeks in Calais with Care4Calais, a refugee charity that focuses on distributing essential resources such as food, clothing, and healthcare services to refugees who often face neglect from the state. This experience has given me insight into humanitarian work and the importance of offering assistance to marginalized communities.

Finally, beyond my support roles, I have a strong background in leadership. I served as the President of an academic society and a sports club during my university years. These experiences honed my leadership skills and taught me the importance of effective teamwork and organization.

In summary, my experiences have equipped me with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, a commitment to social causes, and the ability to thrive in demanding and sensitive environments. I am eager to contribute my skills, leadership, and dedication to hosts and communities during my Workaway experiences.

I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate and make a positive impact through Workaway.

  • What else ...

In addition to my experiences and skills, I'd like to share some of my personal interests and hobbies that I'm excited to bring to the Workaway community:

    Running Enthusiast:
Running is not just a hobby for me; it's a passion. I hit the pavement five times a week, and I'm no stranger to the exhilaration of competing in races, ranging from 5k parkruns to full marathons. I find running to be a wonderful way to explore new places, clear my mind, and stay physically active.

    Literary Explorer:
Reading is another joy I cherish. I have a penchant for classic literature and non-fiction. Whether it's immersing myself in the timeless works of literary giants or delving into the pages of thought-provoking non-fiction, I'm always eager to expand my horizons through books.

    Film Enthusiast and Filmmaker:
When I'm not running or reading, I'm often engrossed in the world of film. I have a particular affinity for documentary films, finding their exploration of real-life stories and issues deeply fascinating. Additionally, I enjoy creating my own low-budget ethnographic films, aiming to capture the beauty of cultures and human experiences.

    Board Games and Chess Aficionado:
I'm an avid board gamer and chess player. Whether it's strategizing over a chessboard or engaging in fun and competitive board games, I relish the intellectual challenges and camaraderie these activities provide. I'm always up for a friendly game night with fellow Workawayers or hosts.

    Card Games Enthusiast:
Card games hold a special place in my heart, too. From traditional card games to unique variations, I love the social and strategic aspects of card gaming. It's a fantastic way to bond with others and have a good time.

These interests not only bring me joy but also provide opportunities for meaningful connections with others. I look forward to sharing these passions with fellow Workawayers and hosts, and I'm open to exploring new activities and hobbies during my Workaway experiences.
