Chile - from Dec 2023 until Jul 2024 View allDescription
I am biking the Carretera Austral during the months of December - January 2023-2024 and hoping to do some WorkAway during or after my trip. I have lived in Vermont, USA for 5 years, but just left my apartment and my job to travel in South America. I am eager to use this winter to explore a different culture, work on my Spanish, engage with new people, lend a helping hand, and play outside! I love spending time outside, biking, hiking, swimming etc. which is what brings me to this region in the first place, but feel that the juice of life is in connecting with people and am hoping to land somewhere, perhaps temporarily, and find community.
I am curious about all the possibilities there are to live a meaningful, creative, fulfilling life. I see WorkAway as an opportunity to apply my skills and make connections to the land and people in a new context. I am open to seeing where this journey takes me.Interests

I am a very capable and dedicated worker with a breadth of curiosity about the land, food, and people. I worked at farms and food access non-profits for several years centering community and climate resiliency. I have experience growing vegetables, herbs, flowers, working with chickens and basic farm operations in addition to supporting culturally appropriate food access projects.
I have also worked in education at a preschool and summer camps, as a volunteer childbirth support person, ceramic studio assistant, volunteer at a yoga studio, and in bars and restaurants.
Working with children, new parents, and as a farmer has developed my skills in communication, conflict resolution, and advocacy. I am familiar with the sociocratic equitable governance model and decision-making through consent, which I would be happy to teach (although I am still learning myself!).
I am an avid cook and love incorporating fresh produce into creative, fun meals and collaborative fermentation projects. I can be relied upon to cook and clean as necessary.
I also love incorporating art and writing into teaching and learning. I am a crafting fiend and am always churning away at some odd art project.Age
