Hola!

Nice to meet you! I'm Emily, I'm 29, from England and I love nothing more than traveling the world to meet new people, experience new cultures and help people and communities where I can.

I am a confident, friendly, outgoing and fun-loving person and keen to get stuck in with anything and everything!

I have previously travelled around Australia, SE Asia and now I’m travelling around South America for the next few months.

I speak very basic Spanish but I am very keen to improve. I have experience in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I graduated from university in the UK with a First Class Degree in International Business Management. I’m interested in sustainability and permaculture or anything that is helping to make a better planet or help communities and people.

My hobbies include dancing, particularly Salsa, hiking and climbing in the great outdoors and of course travelling.

This family is incredible!!! Look no further! I can not possibly find the right words to adequately describe this fantastic experience and give the family the credit they deserve. You must go and see for yourself. Their hospitality was beyond all expectations. If you are having any doubts then put them aside, and don't miss this fantastic opportunity to stay with and help such kind, funloving and passionate people.

Paula and Sofia are a pleasure to teach and keep you on your toes with lots of energy and dancing. They are truly special with such bubbly personalities. There's never a dull moment! Their level of English is outstanding for their age and both can hold a fluent conversation. They have so much potential and it is a truly rewarding experience.

Communication was never a problem despite my low level of Spanish (non-existent) and the parents' lack of English. It just took a little bit of effort from both parties to make it work which was good fun with some hilarious translation moments. (Accidentally calling my Spanish teacher attractive and calling somebody a knife instead of cool!) If you don't speak Spanish, you have to be willing to make the effort to translate (google translate is your friend) but it is worth every second for the heart-warming moments, the love you receive and the help with your Spanish!!

I had a few issues adapting to Spanish culture (different meal times and staying up late) but they were very understanding and flexible and after 3 months in Spain, I think I've finally adapted!

I have so many memories that I will treasure including trips to Madrid and Seville with a lot of delicious meals out and Montse' teaching me Spanish on top of the Puertollano Mountain.
They sought out salsa classes for me to attend, arranged for me to meet up with other conversation assistants from the local school so that I could have English speaking friends and even picked me up at 4am after a night out with them!
In addition to this, they spent hours helping me with the paperwork I needed to teach in a Spanish school, which was no easy task and kindly gave me resources to help with my teaching in the future.
I am eternally grateful for the love and support I have received from this family and they have truly helped me take the first steps on my journey to becoming an English teacher in Spain and Latin America.
