Description
I'm Diego and I come from Mexico City, a loud, vibrant place with lots of things to see. I've been away from Mexico for a few years and I live in France where I'm currently studying a degree in French and English Literature.
I'm trying to travel around during my free time, so I'm looking forward to volunteering this summer and visit another country. I'd like to spend some of my time in one place, understand the local culture, helping other travels, and getting to meet the people from one particular place.
In addition, I think one of the best things the workaway experience has to offer, is to connect with locals, hosts, and volunteers from different backgrounds, to become a team, and share our knowledge for a common goal. This process involves, of course, getting to know the people I work with, which I found very rewarding.Languages spoken

I'm a competent person who always finds a way to do things right. I know is not always possible to enjoy work, especially when it's labourious, but I try to have the best attitude most of the time.
In the past, I worked in hostel and hotel receptions doing night and morning shifts, I like talking to people and make them feel at ease. Being in a different country can be very exciting to many, but it can also present a challenge to others. Part of the job was to expose clients to the beauty of the place they were visiting, reassure them about their trip and tell how to make the best of it. All that with the comfort of a simple conversation. Also, I used to work as a translator for a car company and as a part-time French teacher in a language school.
Back in Mexico, my dad runs a restaurant and I used to work there as a cooker during the summer season as a teen. As of today, I work in a bar-restaurant. I rotate between the bar, where I do bartending, and the kitchen.
I can do some manual or building labor so I don't mind breaking a sweat and getting my hands dirty. I have a background in Physics and although I'm not an electrician, I understand the principles of electric systems if needed. Additionaly, I don't mind helping in the house and doing some cleaning work.
Traveling and getting to know a country is one of the things I find the most enjoyable in life. I'm very enthusiastic every time I'm given the chance to do so.Age

What else ...
I've practiced martial arts for many years, but I had to stop due to coronavirus. Any chance to do some outdoor acitivies such as climbing and running is welcome. Also one of the things I like the most about living in France is traveling to the mountains. I would like to go for a daytrip to a nearby location to do some hiking if possible. Finally, I'm looking for a better life overall, improve my eating habits and find the balance with my body and the things I consume. I enjoy being in touch with the nature and the sea.
