Australia - from Jan 2024 until Jan 2025 View allDescription
Hi all! I am headed to Australia on a work and holiday visa. I am stoked to travel and especially to explore the natural beauty of the country. I went to college for environmental science and thrive most when working outdoors. I am hoping to learn more about Australian culture and environment through work away!

I have experience working in farming and horticulture as well as in childcare. I spent 6 months in Oregon doing a botany and horticulture internship with the Bureau of Land Management. Through this experience I learned fertilizing, propagating, weeding, and pruning techniques in a rhododendron, azalea, and camellia garden. I was also responsible for monitoring and maintaining the irrigation system. I also worked as a farm hand for a summer on an organic vegetable farm where I weeded, harvested, and transplanted carrots, kale, and beets. Both of these experiences were physically intensive and taught me a lot about working with the environment.
In addition to horticulture and farm work, I have experience working in childcare and education. I coached youth field hockey teams for all four years of high school (2015-2019). in 2019 I worked as an after school STEM educator for children ages 6 - 10. In 2021 I was an assistant teacher in the infant room of a daycare. I recently completed a seasonal environmental educator position (September-November 2023) for kids aged 10- 14 with Nature's Classroom New England. I also have plenty of experience babysitting and nannying.
I have experience in customer service roles as well having worked as a cashier, barista, and server throughout finishing my education.Age

What else ...
I love to do anything that involves being creative. I like to make jewelry and play the ukulele. I also love to play sports, do yoga, go hiking, and anything active. I would especially love to learn some Australian sports.
