  • Description

Recently completed a year of solo travel through Poland, Ukraine, Taiwan, and South Korea. Spent some of that time looking after Ukrainian refugee kids through Save the Children, helped teach English through a language immersion program, and helped socialize dogs through an animal welfare organization. Looking to try some more experiences before going back to university and giving something back to the world, hopefully in a tech-related field.

It feels like the world is getting more complicated and more confusing in a lot of ways, so it's easy to get overwhelmed and feel scared about the future sometimes. I believe the best way to deal with that is to learn as much as you can so the unknown doesn't hold that power over you anymore. That said, it's also important to keep an open mind since we all have our own limits and preconceptions.

Through Workaway, I'm looking to help in whatever way I can and to learn quickly when trying something new. I don't smoke/drink and I've lived and worked with strangers from a variety of national and linguistic backgrounds. Communication and compromise is key. Looking forward to working with you.

  • What else ...

I have a strong interest in learning about the positives and negatives of current tech trends (language models, cryptocurrency, autonomous vehicles, etc) in order to maintain a balanced view of their promises and pitfalls. The history of computation also interests me. I don't consider technology to be a magical cure for social problems, but I want to stay informed and sort out the magic thinking from the reality.

Bit of aspiring geek with interests in Star Trek, Stargate, and other sci-fi series. Always wanted to get into tabletop games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Warhammer, Twilight Imperium, etc. Open to all kinds of nerdy stuff, especially animation (mostly Western but I'm not picky).

Love nature. As someone who was a homebody for much of his life, there's something magical about seeing wildlife in their natural state. Hoping we can keep the world from collapsing.
