  • Description

Hi there! My name is Paula Lou (she/her) and this is my first time traveling alone, which I am very excited about! My friends call me a social butterfly, as I love spending time with others, getting to know new people and places, open up my horizon - metaphorically and literally ;)

I have graduated in June 2023 and am spending my Gap Year with internships and traveling before I will start studying in fall 2023. As I have been a climate activist for years I am highly interested in sustainability, politics, social justice and human rights issues. I enjoy being creative and doing art together. Since creative writing and poetry (I am a Slam Poet) is my passion, I am always up for a conversation about books and literature. Moreover I am quite sporty - whether it’s swimming, hiking, volleyball, yoga or surfing (which is still in progress though.. ;)) I am always up for a fun time, if it’s partying, making music (I can play the guitar a little), dancing, cooking together or having a cozy evening with board games.

Nevertheless I am enthusiastic about working and supporting projects - learning new skill and improving those I already have, gaining knowledge. I am a motivated quick learner and take responsibility very seriously. From whipping up meals to keeping things spick and span - my parents taught me to take care of a household. Working outdoors, in harmony with nature and engaging with animals brings me delight - whether it's tending to a garden or taking care of pets! Furthermore I've got a knack for babysitting, and my experience with kids has taught me patience. I have some experience in working in gastronomic teams and would be happy to support with those. While I may not be a seasoned pro in handiwork, I've got a solid grasp of the basics and I'm eager to absorb every bit of knowledge to excel in any hands-on task. I would love to improve my language skills, especially in English and Spanish and I am happy to help with German, as it is my mother tongue.

Discovering foreign countries, cultures and lifestyles fulfills me with joy. I am a spontaneous, openminded and empathetic spirit and thankful for every experience that enriches me with new perspectives. I would love to meet new and interesting people on the way and share the upcoming adventures :)

More details about my language interests
As I am a German native speaker born in Austria and have experience in teaching german to beginners, I am happy to offer German lessons. Even though English is not my mother tongue, this language is very easy for me in every respect and I enjoy teaching it. I have learned Spanish in school and have fallen in love with this language. I would be overjoyed if I could improve my skills and support others with mine in return!

  • More details about your skills

Already in primary school I've discovered literary writing for myself. Since then I haven't stopped -which has not only bagged me several literary awards but also makes me your go-to wordsmith for any written task. When I was 14 years old I joined Fridays For Future Austria and have been a climate activist ever since. My political engagement brought me to an extensive understanding of public relations work: as a spokesperson, in organizing press conferences, in writing press releases and and keeping contact with media. Over the past years I not only gained knowledge about international politics but also sharpened my skills in writing concise texts, researching facts, working intermediate and understanding and linking complex content.

I am an openhearted, bright character and an experienced and compassionate babysitter. I've skillfully cared for two siblings aged 3-6, ensuring a fun and safe environment. Additionally, my heartwarming experience in babysitting a toddler with Down syndrome has equipped me with patience and a nurturing touch.

I not only enjoy social work but I am also passionate about the hustle behind the bar. From rocking the bar at concerts to crafting cozy vibes in cafes, I've honed my skills in diverse settings. I am a quick learner, dynamic, and ready to bring my motivation to your gastronomic team!

My enthusiasm for nature and animals is coupled with a strong work ethic. Whether it's tending to crops, caring for livestock, or embracing the great outdoors, I'm ready to contribute my energy and passion to your farming team.
